Toby,
I was hoping to do some "stuff" in an attempt to shave 2 tenths off my 1/4 mile ET and finally break into those elusive 13's. I am trying to get it done this week/weekend and get back to Sacramento dragstrip next week. I think thats the 28th?

I'm up for going anytime. It's fun just to go.

Toby,

I'd like to go, but I'm going home to LA for the summer. Maybe in late august or early september we can get a sonoma/north bay/sacramento volvo group to meet up at the track? I'd be up for it. If you do go have fun, and try and get there early. I went two weeks ago and I only got three runs in and I was there for about 3 hours. Lets just say that there was a lot of down time. Also,if you do go you might want to try and see if nkennedy wants to go. I'll let him know of your plans, he has the yellow t5-r. See you in the fall.

DoubleV and I were just talkin about this the other day. I know I would definatly be interested on going to Sears Point, other then watchinga Nascar or SuperBike event... and that was the road coarse. Im looking to run consistantly in the 14's.. and as summer goes on, it gets harder for me to do that at Sac Raceway, being hotter and dryer in the summer. So, hopefully being closer to the bay and in the evening, I could still get some good times... So, if something gets going, I'll be down!

Hank Scorpio
05-20-2003, 07:52 PM
Toby just wander down to Sac raceway, Sears point gets hot as a motha too. Once the breeze is going down here its not so bad.

Month or two and Im game!

Doug

Magnum TE

Sears does get HOT HOT HOT but its less than half the distance to Sac receway for me, so we will see.

Over the summer I hope to do both, I hear that Sac is less crowded than "Infineon" (sorry) so maybe it would be better all around. Its gona be hot and my car is gona be stuck in the high 15's

norcal dual745ti
05-22-2003, 03:09 AM
Yeah, I guess ur right, I was just hoping that the onshore breeze from the bay will kick in durin the evening sooner at Sears. oh well, I guess its byebye 14's... hello high 15's :-(

Magnum TE
05-22-2003, 06:18 AM
justin i guess you havent seen a map of the area

http://www.internetsoccer.com/images/GAmap.gif

Its very far from the ocean, the bay is pretty far and there are foothills near hw37 that block all the wind. was very hot when i saw the Us le mans there, not much ocean breeze.

You guys can still run 14's in this weather. You just have to make it long enough to keep racing after the sun goes down ;)

Yup! Just like the good ol summer streetracing nights in Milpitas and Fremont!

And when I was at the Nascar event last year, there was a sea breeze comming in from the south towards the evening. But, maybe that was a rare event... oh well! Racing is racing... and everyone else no doubt will be affected by the heat a little, altho not as much as they would if they had a turbo...

OK. You got me interested in this. I rearranged my travel schedule so I can be home on June 11. Now all I have to do is figure out how to "borrow" my wife's car for a couple of hours.

I figure with all you guys going the boredom level between runs might be manageable. At least there will be someone to hang out with and tell lies to.

I am bringing a book in case you don't show up.

See you on the 11th.

The first liar doesn't stand a chance, Toby

For those of you who think Sears Point is hot like Sacramento.... just wear a T shirt & shorts and leave that sweater at home. You might want to bring your mouthpiece for when your teeth start chattering. It can be really cold there at night, even in June

Sears Point is the name of the place... where the Napa river enters the bay. I know the track is now interferiorn or something. The are plans to start building the worlds largest Indian Casino right across the street from the track. That ought to make access a lot easier and give the Raceway a whole bunch of new neighbors to complain about the noise.

I have heard they are going to completely resurface the roadcourse. This should make a great track exceptional. I hope they get rid of those little whoop de doo's between 5 & 6 huh Patrick? Those always pucker me up a little.

Have fun guys, whish I could be there to go. If you plan on racing though, don't wear shorts or tank tops, they won't let you run. And yes, they are pretty strict about it. They'll let you in the gates and take your money, but just about when you're pulling up in line to run, one of the track personel will be standing by your car and tell you that you can't run. Just some info for you guys.

Ya, that is quite annoying.

Well, I was going to be on vacation with my GF during that week, but she got her jury duty notice starting the first day of our vacation. So if Im here still, Ill try to blast on out with the s60. Maybe through my new 17's on (from the 242) and pull the muffler! ;)

Sounds to Me, that Lee just doesn't like it cause he hasn't made it to the finals yet :-P

I'll try to make it out... still not quite sure, i'll know as time gets closer...

Doug, I dont think they allow you to run muffler-less for Wednesday Nighters. I think I read that somewhere in the rules... booooooo. I hope they dont count gutted cats w/ mufflers... cuz thats what i'll have.

Hank Scorpio
05-28-2003, 10:16 AM
True, they don't, but both my muffler-less turbo cars were quieter than any of the rice rockets out there.

Change of plans, looks like I'll be on vacation again though! Late June hopefully the 242 will be back together, get you loosers down to SAC!

I'm in, I never been to the track yet and would love to hit it up and see where my Volvo is in 1/4 mile times so far. I know it's not terribly fast but I'm curious to see what how it's doing and would like to have a little fun. I can also have a buddy bring my video camera to get our runs on tape.

Keep me posted!

Looks like I won't be going! :-( My girl, who I also live with said "no", I mean I didn't really ask her anyway but that's the answer I got when I told her. It's kind of hard to do it anyway cause I live with her and I'm not on the best terms cause I owe her a little money.

She said I can hit the track up when we get another car since this is our only car to get around right now and I guess I can understand that.

She's usually pretty cool about things so I can't complain too much, just not this time. I really pushed it and she said the only condition I could go is if I did dishes, cleaned the house for the rest of my life and did her favors all the time. I'm not too cool with those terms.

I'll make it to the next even if we have another car by then or a little more money! :-)

this really sucks

Pat, I don't think I am gonna race [it'd be fun but I'd be deathly slow cause of my old turbo] and I will probably be there on time. I can probably loan out my trunk for the storage to you, just as long as it does not hurt my new paint!

slugger89
06-01-2003, 06:29 PM
hey i thought about going but here look how long it would take me. Total Estimated Time: Total Distance: 384.14 miles
6 hours, 21 minutes

740TurboPerformance
06-02-2003, 12:19 AM
I'd like to go anyway even though I'm not runnin, it would take me about 1.5-2.0 hours to get there though and it's not worth it to me if I'm not runnin' and none of my friends want to go up with me since I'm not racing either. :-( Guess I'll have to catch it next time..........

I got race fever too!! :-P Dissappointed........., just killed a tricked out ass Acura Integra (one that actually looked pretty nice), I rode 1st gear (auto), positive he had a manual, from the light we both punched it and were screaming!! I hit 5300RPM's and I pulled ahead of him. Damn, I wanna burn some more rice, wish I was going!

Well I guess that's OK, that'l give me time to work out my hesitation problem, for some reason it's been unusually sluggish feeling until it hits like 4000RPM's then it starts to pack some real power. I'm gonna replace the Rotor, do the Engine Temperature Sensor and put a slightly colder Thermostat in, I'm also gonna do a Nissens 3 row Radiator while I'm at it (I'm also due for a new Radiator) so this will give me some time to smooth this out and get it ready to run.

Have fun guys, wanna see some video too! 8-) I'll definately hit ya'll up next time........! My friend is gonna bring his 5.0, 5 spd down there and I'm gonna race his ass too. My buddy thinks I could beat him, we'll see I guess.

RE: Jury Duty

Avoiding getting on a jury is quite simple. I'm sure it is a DWI. They all are. Here is what you do:

When you get in the box and the attorney asks you a question, ignore him, point at the defendant and say in a loud voice, "I hope that drunk didn't kill nobody, cause he looks like a murderin' rat bastard to me"

You'll be free by 10:30.

Since I'm giving out advice today why not do relationships?

Mr. 740 TurboPerformance... Let me be a bit more helpful than my very un-tactful friend Patrick and his veiled reference to having balls. How crude.

Here is what you do: Wednesday afternoon say "bye Honey, I'm goin' to the drags, don't wait up". Then go get in the car, go to the drags, race the crap out of the car, stop for a couple of pops on the way home, and eat something with lots of garlic so you go in smelling really bad.

This is a win win. If she is there when you get home, you win. When this matter comes up in the future she won't give you any crap because she knows it doesn't work. You will have a life where you can do stuff besides go to baby showers for her friends.

If she isn't there when you get home, and has left and gone home to Mommy, you win. You are now free to find a chick that isn't quite so controlling and might accept you "as you are" at least until she gets the big diamond.

If you have questions on how this works, tune into AM 1550, weekdays 3-6 PM.

See you ALL Wednesday night!

we ran from 14.5 (pat) to 16.0, i think... Very respectable times... showed those ricers a little somethin! I enjoyed listening to the people in the stands doggin and laughing at us, then saying... "whoa!" I especially enjoyed how the some kids from my old HS, who alwayz used to dog me and my car were there and actually messed up my right rear rim, ****in immature dicks... the dude sellin bottle water from a $3 24case, from safeway for $1...
i was faster then 6 of 7 of their cars in their "crew" (named mph)...

I did 15.4@87mph for my quickest... kinda curious why I didnt hit 90mph tho. Havent touched my car since the last time I ran, other then oil changes and the like. But I had to run w/ a muffler(no cat), which may have slowed me by 3 mph and 2-3tenths

Also, I was thinkin traction was worse at sears, but I got 2.3 60' times and at Sac I was doing 2.4 and ran quicker at the end.

norcal dual745ti

Justin cool stuff.

Though, I wouldn't blame your muffler, Pat dyno'd BETTER with his muffler on ;) Im surprized that they nailed any of our turbo cars for being mufflerless, mine was quieter than any other rice car I've ever heard.

14.5s from Pat eh.... whoa guess that gets him off my back for a bit

Tuff240
06-15-2003, 11:01 PM
We all had a good time hangin out and talkin Volvo, but the racin sucked IMHO. Too many people (300+ cars racing), not enough runs ( I got 3 ), and the traction was terrible. My best 60 foot time of the night babying it on the launch netted me a 2.4 something 60 foot. I then proceeded to lay about 2 car lengths of blackmarks going into 2nd. That was on my best run of 14.5.

Like I said, we had fun meeting up, but I won't be going back to Infineon to drag race anytime in the near future.

Something went out on my car about halfway home as well. Those multiple 120mph stints with Ryan, Noah and Pat on the way home probably didn't help :-P . Not sure if it's the turbo or the control pressure regulator. Got home, washed it, covered it, parked it for a little while.

Doug,
Don't worry, I STILL have the sticker :owned: .
