ACK.. my new to me 90 744ti has one faded tail light.. is there a way to fix it so it can last more then a day or so? Or should i just opt for a new one...
I tried sanding it a little with some fine sandpaper, and then i tried some plastic treater stuf.. actually that tire blackener stuff worked the best.. but yeah.. the next morning after a light rain itwas back to looking ****ty.. Any ideas? Or good deals on a passenger side tail light?
thanks!

Not sure about your tailight, but it looks like you could use some of that Bumper Black paint. Killer car though. :)

thanks.. yeah .. it really needs the bumpers done.. the whole car is gonna beblack.. going for the stealth look.. black hydras, deep tint, blakc strip through the none faded tails, all bumpers and trim painted to match..
thats the game plan anyhow...

I don't know what kind of hurry you are in, but if you can wait I will see if I can get you one from the pull a part. I believe that there is one out there like this. That is, if the US and Can models share the same light fixtures.
Anyway, if you are still looking by next Friday or so, I will look when I go...

I've never tried this on Volvo tail lamps, but the following has worked for me very well for yellowing/faded headlamps on Fords, Neons, Intrepids, Concords, Volvo 240's, Lexuses, Mercedes, and Caravans:
Grab an old rag, preferably an old towel, and dab some Brasso brass polish on it. Depending on the severity of the fading, rub it on the headlamp for several minutes. After it dries, wipe off the excess. If you're satisfied with the results, protect it with car wax.
Lacking Brasso, you can also use rubbing compound.
It really is a shame, about tail lamps on 740's and 240's. Don't know what supplier Volvo used or if they made them in-house, but you'd think they're made of sugar candy.

I have a set of tails for your model. If you are at Waterdown tomorrow you can check them out, the driver side has a crack , but the passenger side is fine.(slight scratches). If have a '87 760 & I got these hoping for an updated look, they fit fine but the wiring is wierd & I couldn't get them to fuction properly when the light are on or the brake light cancelled turn signals so after days of trying I figured it had to do with dash/relay wiring so I pulled them & they have been gathering dust. I could let you have them cheap.

Actually.. i've been fiddling with the faded one a little and i've found something thats actually working ok.. if you wet sand it..A LOT and then use some metal polish it looks ok.. and it seems to be lasting ok.. i figure a coat of wax would keep it looking better for longer, but i think i'll end up painting it once i get rid of most of the foggy stuff..and i don't want the paint sliding off the wax..
but yeah.. i'll see how that works for a bit..
Now, about those 760 lights.. if those are the same style as above.. NOT the 6 panel ones, but a little wider, then i might still be interested.. not for the 744 tho but for the 242.. Unfortunately i'm here typing this and NOT at the volvo meet.. which sucks.. but yeah.. if you could email me at volvorace88ATyahoo.ca with some pics a price, etc.. it would be great..
Thanks for all the advice and help so far guys! I'll post some pics of the "restored" light to give you guys an idea of how it went..
