Hey Guys and gals.
I finally pulled the passenger side head off of the Monstre and found as I expected a headgasket that blew into coolant in a big way.
The head got a .002" kissie on the head surfacer and now the passenger side head has fresh valve stem seals. We shall see what that does for the smoke......Always burns oil when not in boost.........
It will go back together this weekend. Now it just needs a roof, L/R quarter and paint along with the expected million details. :badboy:
"So you wanna go RACIN!!!" Ahh the fun.

Glad to hear the FBM is coming back together, but was disappointed when I looked at the entries for the Rim of the World rally and your name was nowhere to be found on the list. This will be my first RotW rally and I was excited that I might get to see your 262 in action.

Any chance you'll be making the trek out to the Susquehannock Trail ProRally in my home state of PA this year? I was surprised to see the Valencia Volvo R team show up with their 242 at last year's STPR but didn't get to see it run after drivetrain failure on the first stage. Just to give you fair warning my rally crazed buddies and I would probably drive you crazy perstering you for a ride in the Monster. Here's to hoping.

hehe. Nice to hear it's on its way back to life.

My car is alive again, although extremely neutered.
The stock B21ft is an absolute DOG. I think I may be able to cope if I just the base timing up to 14-15 degrees but... it's horrifyingly slow compared to the modded B23ft, this is with the exact same exhaust, turbo, wastegate, manifolds, etc.

oh well... hopefully by october I'll have something functional to throw in it...

So Kenny are you going to make the replacement more exciting?

I won't be traveling big distances to go to rallies. I'm not interested in a National title, and as such do not see the point in driving that much. Rim would be fun though. Great parties. JL

I was considering getting really scary, as we had talked about previously-but I just don't think i have the resources (space as much as anything).
Currently it's looking like I am going to get some manner of big valve kit and some more headwork, and do a Balanced and blueprinted B23ft, forged flat tops and shotpeened rods, and possibly a pair of 45mm dellorto 2bbls... i really like the experimentation as much as the speed.

A tube header and bigger turbo will be on the build sheet as well.

I like the B23ft becuase I can build a reasonably strong bottom end for cheap and if I grenade it, it ain't the end of the world.
The PRV stuff is a bastard to find up here, and if I break a T6 motor, it's all over. going to be another 1000bucks US just for a core.

So "just" a B23ft for now, but it should be more exciting yet than the last one (to which there was no comparison to my B21ft- it feels like a Honda now).

At some point I should think about suspension mods too...
Man that was one f'ing fast (scaryin a bad way) 245DL. LOL.
300hp and an 18mm rear swaybar and 20 year old shocks.
Wicked weight transfer though...

I'm sure we'd all like to see some convertible shots. If it's burning off the last of the old rally tires, that's fine too.

I sure wish that I could manage to amke that event, but is just does not look to be in the cards for me this time through. :( I got road race tires for it and everything. Maybe something else this year? It will happen.

Stay tuned for R-rated topless Fire Breathing Monster photos!

I could post John Lane topless photos, too, but I don't think anyone wants to see that! I won't even get into the incar videos from other competitors that must be out there showing John Lane bottomless standing on his rolled over rallycar holding the OK sign in front of his privates!... :booty:
