It'll be quite easy getting the boost upto 10psi. The motor can handle it just fine as long as you have it at what we call stage zero. Which is that the general performance and condition of all parts are about upto factory level when it was new. The motor can handle the boost but it does make more heat so that's why you want to be sure everything is in good condition.

Before upping the boost get a boost gauge that is numbered so you can adjust it to a known reference point. You'll want to listen for any ping and back off and adjust the boost down a bit if that happens. One of the guys mounted the boost gauge in place of the clock. Other folks usually pod mount or mount on the top of the dash between the hood for the gauges and the windshield pillar. A four psi raise in the boost is very good for power
and turbo enjoyment. But the gas will disappear faster.

so my computer teamed up with the maf sensor should regulate the fuel\air ratio accordingly?

thanks dlot

From what I've read and experienced here and reading at Turbobricks. The stock fuel system is good for around 12psi without any help. But with a stock exhaust I experienced ping around there and could only run around 10-11psi. Once I got
a better exhaust and put in a K&N air filter I could run the motor
around 12psi. IIRC you already have an exhaust on your car so you should be OK for boost in that area.

Big difference over the stock boost in terms of performance?

boosting great!! still only 10 pounds but thats as much as my exhaust will allow

i did 0-100 in under 8 seconds the other night

not to mention the numerous snaps at the lights

That's great! The general rule of thumb seems to be about
8hp per psi. So just going up 4 psi is 32hp. Very nice bump
in power. I also popped the top of my brake booster check
valve off. I guess they just don't like that big power.

what do you mean by check valve off

The little white valve that is on the brake booster where the hose from the manifold attaches is a one way valve. It gets old and weak. So with the boost turned up a bit higher the top of it blew off. Mine was over 20 years old when it happened.

yea exact same valve cap blew off mine..... imade a makeshift cap out of a washer , some electrical tape and some cable ties its seems to be doing the job just fine
