I think this is the first real interesting FWD project here to my knowledge, so I'll try to take better pictures of it than the ones that are in this post :-P
This is by far the worst picture I have, but sadly the only one I have of the car's exterior (aside from one that is way under-exposed because I had the flash turned on).
I bought the car on E-bay for $1500 with a blown head gasket... I still have yet to see it run so hopefully the engine is all that is wrong.

When I pulled the valve cover and head, I discovered the problem was waaaaaay beyond just a blown head gasket:

Cams and lifters all rusty... Pulled the dipstick and it was a few quarts high. Not thinking, as is my wont, I put an oil pan under the thing to empty the oil... Well, the oil pan filled with the entire contents of the coolant system, and the oil from the car floated mischievously out of the pan and all over my driveway.
Pull the head, and check out contestant number 3!

My plans to just pop on a new head and head gasket set were now shot beyond any shadow of a doubt... Just check out that hot melting action!
Among the plus sides of the car:
Hm, modified?

The nicest 850 interior I've seen, except maybe Volvoman37's car which is practically new.
OK, so the pictures of the interior basically didn't come out well at all... This is prehistoric 1.3 megapixel Fujifilm camera we are dealing with here. Found under a rock. Carbon dating results aren't back from the lab yet but I'd guess about 100 years old.
So, now that I've got this car with a blown ass engine, I've got a number of opportunities in my garage to do anything I want with regards to a head or cams (you may spy cams in various places, they aren't gathered together):

The legendary skinny rods... Note tiny bore:

After much contemplation, a rebuild of that bottom end isn't in my budget at the level on which I would like to get it done (a pretty proper rebuild with new pistons and SPM rods).
So now in a wheelbarrow full of mulch (yes, moving an engine in a wheelbarrow is probably the dumbest thing we've ever done in that arena), there is a complete engine:

Here is a fuel rail with 395 cc hi-z blue injectors (note multiple modified ECU's in the background:

Here is some MSD thingy and some HID ballasts:

Now is where the project grows interesting. Of course, this is also where pictures become less frequent...
[Picture an MS board with one of Kenny's harnesses and all necessary sensors, next to an Apex'i AVC-R with all necessary wiring and harnesses, also an extra set of injector harnesses. Also a PenPC is sitting around somewhere]
Also unpictured is a BorisM knocksense unit, and here is a picture of a particular device that may be familiar to a member or two here:

Cell phone call Friday morning indicates that these have cleared customs and ought to be here from Sweden on Tuesday :) :

Guess which one I am using ;)
The downpipe used will be a 3-bung (one for WBO2, one for stock O2, and one for dedicated MS O2) of this production but of course designed for the angled 3" outlet instead of the conical 15G's: http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php?showtopic=26109 This piece won't be ready until I can get my turbo to Jesse and he can make one up... But hopefully that can be shortly after I get it to him :)
I will probably just go to an exhaust shop to have them put a V-band coupler on my IPD cat-back and link it to the downpipe that way. Should be a sweet exhaust note either way...
Right now, the engine is a couple bolts away from being pulled out, thanks largely to my garage friend:

And the enginee bay, if you can make anything out... That's the power steering pump and reservoir perched on the block:
http://www.pbase.com/image/45959878.jpg
I skillfully left my wiring diagrams 3.5 hours away from where the car is and where I am staying this weekend, so the wiring I get done tomorrow will probably be pretty limited... So the plan is to put the stock/supersprint exhaust on the yellow car I think-- to get the IPD stuff on the silver one, but mainly to get the other engine bolted in with the accessories on and both T-belt and serpentine on and tensioned and new. Hopefully get the injector wiring done at least, along with all the stand-alone sensors (coolant, AIT, and the no-brainers like the KS wiring and the TPS for MS... likely the AVC-R and bulk of MS will have to wait til next weekend).
Anyway, thanks for bearing with me through possibly some of the worst pictures ever. Hopefully it doesn't land me on anyone's bottom 5 list :-D
Just some proof to back up my big FWD talk... Well, proof that I even have a FWD car
For the record, the count (including parts on cars) is: 4 turbos, 7 FWD heads, 4 FWD blocks... Plus all my RWD stuff. It is my intention to clean/rebuild/port all the extra heads and sell them off, but I have a lot of intentions.
I'll let you go now, as that was probably a few pages of stuff. Till next time.
