I'll be MSnS'ing my car soon (745 TI). I would like to make it MSnS-e, but I am running Linux on my laptop. Is there a version of MegaTunix that will allow me to do MSnS-e?

Thanks

I briefly looked into Mtunix, just because it looked cool, and it seemed that it could run just about any firmware. There is probably a Mtunix group on MSefi, or ask in the MSnS-E group.

Yeah, I posted on msefi.com and they said that I can run it but I just won't be able to access all the features until somebody (and I think the guy wants me to help) sets up the new tabs to run all the extra stuff. Well, that'll be a good project for me!

Just be careful with the extra program, there's a LOT of settings that have to be perfect or else the car just won't start.

The more I think about it, the more I am leaning toward just MSnS'ing the car and getting it nice and running like that, and then implementing the extra portion later, in Boston. I really want it so I can use the stock idle air control motor, and the extra outputs sure would be nice for a few things. I plan on getting it set up so that the check engine light will function correctly even with the MS in so that I can pass smog without pulling all the junk.

John, can you elaborate on that? I was under the impression that all the extra features are ancillary and don't necessarily need to be implemented just to run the car bare-bones MSnS.

It's not all that bad, but it can still be a PITA to make it work... there's a lot of options in the new firmware, and even if you don't want to use them, you have to sleuth them out and turn them off.

It's further complicated when going from an older msq; some of the options import fine, some are garbled, and some are damn hell bass ackwards.

Basically what Kyleizzle said. If you have an old file from say the bare bones MS 220 and want to convert it over to the newest extra version, not only will you have to do each value by hand, but you'll have to invent a few while you're at it. For example the old program uses very simple settings for cranking PW's, afterstart enrichments, warmup stuff, accell/decell stuff, etc. While the new versions use a slightly more complicated way of doing it. You just have to go through every single setting and say "do I need this to be checked, y/n?". I'm thinking especially in the codebase and output function section. This is where you choose if you're using MS only, MSnS, EDIS, TFI/HEI, what your Fidle is gonna be, the LED functions, etc. They're picky, trust me.

It's really not hard, just read up before diving into it and take your time to learn it when you get there.

Sounds ok. In my case, I won't be coming from an older version, I'm going to be MSnS'ing right off the bat with the extra firmware if I can help it. My MS is either in the mail or waiting for me at my friend's house. So hopefully I won't have those importing issues.

I wouldn't start with MSNS extra. I think there is so much more stuff(more control) in extra that you'll be overwhelmed a bit. Get familiar with the basics of msns and then try extra.
