This has been gone over before here in a few different threads, but while surfing eBay an auction came up that really caught my eye. Someone is auctioning off High Mileage badges, and they're fetching $40+ for them! :grrr: Don't be a fool. Contact Volvo, register your car with them, and they'll send you the badge for $FREE$.

http://www.volvocars.us/_Tier2/Owners/HighMileageClub.htm

Normally I'd simply laugh it off and let some poor sucker pay ~$50 for a freebie item, especially if they're too inept to figure out that calling Volvo will yield the same results with no money out of pocket. But today it rubbed me the wrong way I guess...

Now, if you're overseas and Volvo isn't offering this program where you are, I can almost understand it. But I bet it'd be easier to get one from another board member who's moved onto the next highest badge...

They say your odometer has to read over 100,000 to join? :-(

Mine only reads 20 something.
It's wrapped around 4 times though. :-D

I try not to be Tyler, I really do try. But when you start a thread in the hopes of helping out your fellow Volvo-ites by keeping them from paying their hard earned money for a freebie item and the first response you get is an assinine one, it's hard not to come off as an asshole. :e-shrug:

BTW, there's a point where they don't offer 100k intervals and instead offer 50k. Seems like 300k is the last before going to 50k badges.

Correct. You'd only get a badge that says 50k.

I think something got lost in translation there, I meant the next badge after 300k would be 350k. But apparently they only send you the 50k badge...thats kinda lame.

I've gotten my 300k mile badge from Volvo. They sure are a pleasure to receive. If that's true
that you only get 50k badges after 300k it would be a shame. The made all the badges
Irv needed for his P1800 so they definitely have dies or whatever they use for badges all the way to 1 million. When Irv mounts up his badge bar for shows it's awesome. The badges go
all the way across the front.

Any pics floating around of this "badge bar" ?This is from the July '04 VSA Concours. It's basically the bumper overrider bar with the High Mileage badges mounted to it (correct me if I'm wrong Dave :)).

OK! I just got off the phone with Volvo (got my 300k badge coming :-D), and while I had them on the phone I asked a few simple questions.

No, the 100k interval badges do NOT stop at 300k. They go all the way up to 1 million.

They have no record of the 50k interval badges. :e-shrug:

Now, I've seen the 50k badge Gary's talking about, so I know they exist. But, I wonder if they were made by someone else??? The Volvo rep I talked to sounded interested in them as well. So Gary, mind getting a pic of that badge for me? Preferably with a ruler or 100k interval badge next to it for reference. ;-)

Herzog Myer (sp?) Volvo here in Beaverton where my poor little GT was sold from, can't seem to get badges anymore. I guess I'll try Jim Fisher. or Call Volvo myself. but I'm so busy. I have a 200,000 mile badge but I need the 300,000 badge now.

That's our man Irv with the badges! I thought I remember the badges going all the way across and he had it setup so he didn't drive around with them mounted. He would put the bar on when he got to the show or wherever he was going. Oh well, he could have changed things. I
haven't hung out with Irv in a few years.

With regards to the +50k mile badges. To my knowledge those badges stopped being supplied
in the 70s or early 80s. I have one that I took off a junkyard 164.

I will say the Volvo UK website has some cool goodies available for sale that we aren't offered here in the US though. :-(

hey guys i hate to revive a really old thread....but i just discovered this thing about the high mileage badges and i registered my car last night. however, wen i called the volvo personal shopper this morning, they seem to have changed their options and there are only options for inquiring about new volvo models or volvo oversea delivery :-(

is there any other way i can order the badge besides the fone? perhaps an online registration form, as i have read about in another thread. i want a high mileage badge of my own :-( :-(

(even though my volvo is a relative baby at 148k :-P )

The dealership has mail-in forms. Also, lots of independent volvo shops have them laying around.

Just mail it in, they will send your badge in a few weeks/months

I just got off the phone with Volvo. I ordered my 200k badge for my 1993 wagon. When you call them you enter the menu selection for Volvo cars. Information on new models. You'll be transferred to a rep who will take your name and address, VIN and register you to send you the badge. He told me it may take 8 weeks or less to send it to me. 1-800-550-5658. Volvo dealers don't get these for you.

What if I'm just at 198k, should I wait until I hit 200k?

Shucks, I'd do it now.
You'll be at 200K by the time you get it anyway.
And if by any chance the badges become unavailable by then, you'll be covered.

I dropped off a completed form at an unnamed dealership over a year ago.
No badge.
Instead, I salvaged the two old ones off my previous car before it went to Volvo Valhalla.
My current DD is now at 276K miles so won't need a new badge for another 1.5 years or so.

I called when I got my car and was sent both a 100,000 and a 200,000, just call them for every 100,000 and they'll send you a badge, they ask for your VIN #. not sure when it ends.
I really want to mount mine somewhere, thinking on both sides of the license plate but I can't seem to find where I put them :-(

I have 4 Volvos to registerWhen I made this thread back in July 2005, the link worked just dandy. Volvo has since changed their website. I have no desire to update my original post. Deal with it. :)

EDIT// Besides, the link in question merely went to the webpage that talked about the high mileage club and gave the contact phone number to call. It was never an online registration form.

I have a friend here in Jersey that had a small silver high mileage badge like that on his car. From what I can find out that badge is what Volvo gives to the Euro folks. My friends car was bought new in Germany and after a few years over there the serviceman had the car shipped back to the states when he returned to the US. It has a German Volvo dealer badge on it as well.

I went by a local Volvo dealership here in Washington State this morning to inquire about the badges. They didn't have the badges or "brochures" in stock, but the parts desk took my name and number and said they would call me when they had all of the brochures in. They told me that the badges were free and didn't say whether or not I would receive a window sticker as well. Volvo North America's website under "Owners Info" has a form that you can complete to join the Volvo High Mileage Club, and the indication on the website is that they will send you the window stickers free of charge but no mention of the badges is made.

I used to have a bunch of these being that I bought and sold over 600 240's, and yes I sold most of them on ebay. :-P

I have one of the small square ones 2 people referred to earlier. I'll take pics of it when I remember too. It's in storage with most of my other Volvo trinkets.

They changed the style of the badges somewhere between 75-85 I'd say. When this thread started they were using the style below in the pics. The best looking ones IMO. The older one looks the same for all mileage markers, just has different mileage on it (the one's on Irv's car).

FYI: At some point they do require documentation of the mileage, you can't just call in and say I want a 1 million mile badge. :-P

Since I haven't seen any decent pics of the badges yet...
