Winton Track/Fun Day last 17/7/2005 (56k, no way)

The Volvo club of Victoria attended a Fun Day at Winton last weekend.
It was a decent day, despite a few idiots on the track at times - this was to be expected.
There was a good Volvo turnout - 6 cars on the track and and, a couple of other cars in attendance as well as the usual suspects hanging around and helping out.

From this board we had:

* Ben (The Guv)
* Heino (Stretch)
* James (vspeed740t)
* Me

Added to this; Dion, Chis Tina, Owen, Noel (all Volvo club of Victoria) and my Dad, Neil as well as a few others whom I didnt know, we had a decent little support group and a really fun day.

On track there were the following:
1 x 142, 2 x 240, 3 x 740T

The day was divided up into solo runs as well as a couple of passenger runs, I took a couple of people out in the 240.
Everyone had a good day and there was a lot of volvo-love to be shared.

My 240 was awesome, much faster than the last day I did at winton, with much higher corner speeds, managed to hand out a beating to an AU XR6 and an EL (could have been an EF though) XR6 and a turbo R33 skyline - a couple of highlights of the day.

I had a really really fun session where I ran with another turbo R33 skyline which was only just faster over the lap.

I can carry lots of corner speed and have great brakes, but still dont have the straight line speed. looks like I'll give in to the dark side and turbo the thing after all.

James and Owens 740T with turbo+ kit and higher than stock boost was noticably faster in a straight line - it really makes you work harder for the pass though

Unfortunately not this weekend we didnt, but we have a hillclimb on August 28, so we'll do some of that.
I had a camera in the car at Winton last year, so I could probably get someone to host a lap or so of that.

I'd say so, the course is very tight, and a 360 is quite nimble.

The Morwell hillclimb is LOTS of fun .... has been used a few times as a stage in rallies. I have some good video footage of cars on it in the 2003 state champuionship round down there .... was wet = BIG LOSES with the boys all on gravel tyres !!
