Suffering from "Anything-but-work-itis" today, I meandered over to the MS forums, and lo and behold, they've added MAF/AFM/AMM support to MSnS-E

Interesting stuff. I guess there's a potential for more accurate fuel calcs, since MS could now tell exactly how much air is going in, versus calculating it based on MAP/RPM/IAT.

its actually not that new, a bunch of guys branched off a couple of years ago and wrote in their own maf code. Something to think about i suppose, it would certainly make the fuel calculations more "normal" but then you've got that goddamn maf on the car again

But you can put a silly big MAF on your car.

yea, but then when you're cruising down the road only pulling 50 cfm or whatever, it'd have issues reading correctly. (course under bewst it'd be pretty phat)

True, you've gotta be careful with dynamic range of the meter, but since the code primarily supports the Ford stuff, and I know that the aftermarket Ford stuff is "tuneable" with different sampling tubes and calibrations, you can quite easily get a meter that won't restrict your airflow but still provide 0-5 volt range within your horsepower limits.
The turbo Mustang guys seem to like their MAF systems up to and beyond 600 horsepower, so for the 350-400 horse engines like yours and mine it should be fairly easy to select a meter that will work well.
But since we've been tuning with MAP for so long now, guys like you and I probably don't see the draw as much as someone just starting out with MS, where they can just "slap on" a meter, especially if it's got an established airflow-voltage curve.

yea. its cool that the support is there, it would certainly make big cam turbo cars a TON easier to tune (and it wouldnt have that map sensor "bobble" )
maybe on some future project i'll try it out, i'm always up for new and esoteric **** :)
