Hey everyone,

I'm new to the message board, I thought I'll introduce myself and my car here, and also show off the list the things I've added :-)

My name's William, I'm 22 years old in Brisbane, Australia. My car is a '90 740 GL sedan, white with beige cloth interior. B230F engine and AW-70L transmission. Came with power windows and central locking, but it doesn't have sunroof or heated seats. Here is a list of genuine Volvo parts I've added so far -

Snow Cap (ventilation intake cover)
Door Sill Moulding (similar to the late 960's, except it says "Volvo" instead of "960")
Centre arm rest with drink holder
Front mud-flaps
"Sirius" 15" alloys (Pulled from an early 760 and reconditioned)
Fog lights (quite rare on the '90+ 740's)
Rear sun blind
Volt Gauge (from a wrecked Turbo)
Oil pressure gauge
Power mirror conversion (car came with manual mirrors)
Volvo 5.25" hat-shelf speakers (HT-183)
Cruise control
Wood door trim (Rosewood)
Volvo single-DIN head unit with in-dash CD player (CT-906)
Radio amplifier from 960, 4 x 40W
960 dome light with front reading lights (original dome light did not have reading lights)
Late-760 interior pillar trims, velvet-covered.
Rear reading lights (standard in 760 / 960's)
Clear front fender indicators (replaced amber ones)
Re-badged to "740 GLT" (never sold in Australia)

I also have a pair of headlight wiper mechanism waiting to be installed, and I'm waiting on a few more parts including 960 sunvisors with lighted vanity mirrors on both driver and passenger side (currently only mirror on passenger side and un-lighted) and a pair of '92 and later one-piece front headrests to replace the ladder-back type. I'm also waiting for a pair of upgraded anti-sway bars (23mm front, 19mm rear) to arrive from Sweden. My local Volvo dealer only asked US$130 for them, brand new, lot cheaper than IPD's!

I've also added some non-genuine accessories to my car, these include an Alpine CHM-S620 CD changer, Alpine 6.5" speakers in the front doors and 5.25" speakers in the rear doors (replaced the factory speakers). K&N panel air filter, Mongoose alarm & immoboliser with remote lock/unlock, and Tint-a-car window tinting.

Here's a photo of my car. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone, as well as trading information and experience on Volvo's!

G'day William, good to have another Aussie on the board.
It takes a strong character to drive a Volvo around here, 'cos nowhere in the world do you get more sh*t heaped on on you for driving a Volvo than in Australia! After you have been on the board for a little while, you'll find that there is more Volvo knowledge here than you can pose a stick at.

PS. Mr Bishop is also from Brisbane, so you my want to have a chat to him.

It does work. Geocities dosen't allow link-throughs from other sites to non-html documents. just copy and pase that address into a new browser window and it will work. Nice car by the way. got any interior pics?

Sorry the pics didn't come up... I'm not good with putting photos on the web.

Try this link, http://au.photos.yahoo.com/yv1744 then click on "My 740", it should work this time, hopefully. So far I've got 2 exterior shots, from the front and rear, as well as a shot of my instrument cluster showing the volt gauge and oil pressure gauge. I don't have any recent interior pics showing the wood door panels, new radio or speakers, because my digital camera was unfortunately stolen before I had a chance to take photos of it. These pics were from over 6 months ago and they don't show the clear fender indicators and "740 GLT" badge that I've added since.

Oh, another thing I've modified on my car which I forgot to mention... I've changed to windscreen washer nozzle from the original "squirt" type to the late S70 "mist spray" type, pretty nifty upgrade and only cost US$16 from the dealer for the pair of new nozzles.
