Shoulder paint

On my 82 244 it has black paint on the shoulders of the car. its all cracked and stuff and i want it off... But i dont want to take off the redwood metallic color underneath it. how would i get this stuff off without damaging my other paint?

heat gun/propane soldering torch and carb cleaner will remove it without damaging the paint underneath

carb cleaner is hard on paint, but brake clean usually is not.
