We moved in about 5 weeks ago.

Bens (The Guv) 1989 240 last saturday. We (The Guv, Cam740, myself and my dad) spent the afternoon bleeding the brakes and fitting new EBC greenstuff pads, moving the horns, removing the towbar.

My 1990 240.
Today the weather was awesome, since Jae and I both work about 10 minutes from home, we always come home for lunch, today after lunch I left the 850 at home and took the 240 back to work.
Above is Jae posing for the 'Women of Turbobricks' calendar at lunchtime.

Nice pics guys! One quick question, are those the type of lights where you can paint the area around the headlight behind the glass? If so, I think that'd look awesome on both of your cars...

Nice ride.
I really LOVE 240s! I need to get another one soon. Dont get me wrong, I love 700's as well but My first volvo was a white '79 245 and now that I look back I really didn't have a good reason to sell it.

I have already asked about this. If I'm nice to her, it probably wouldnt be a problem, however she may object if she actually logged on here and had an idea what you guys are really like! :-P

With comments like that, there'll be no calendar for you my friend. he he ;-)

I'm loving that little scoop on the red one's hood... tell me more about that hood.

Its simply a stock '86 onwards bonnet, directly below the scoop is the airbox (battery is now in a box inside the car - passenger side rear). A large diameter flexible rubber pipe seals against a duct on the inside of the bonnet which is fed by the scoop.
There is also a collector and duct in the front spoiler which feeds into the side of the airbox above the filter element.
The filter lies horizontally in the box and the outlet to the mass meter is in the bottom of the box under the element.

If you seriously want to visit, there's a spare bed at my place (this goes for most TB guys too).

15 mins from my house is probably some of amazing driving roads, and about 10 mins away is Bells Beach.

Here's my contribution of another crappy night photo of a 700:

http://members.optushome.com.au/ajcw84/Volvo%20Photos/low760.JPG

I haven't lowered the rear end yet, only the front. It's not mobile at the moment, pending new wheel nuts and a brake bleed. Better pics will follow.

Angus, I love the wheels on your 740. Are they Simmons?

Angus242164

Thanks igor, yep they're Simmons V5's. The car is now lowered front and rear, and looks very good, but the original wheels are back on it for now, until I get some more suitable wheel nuts for the Simmons.

I'll sort out some centre caps soon as well.

In addition to the cut springs, I fitted new Sachs shocks/struts, converted to 1990- front struts, fitted 11" discs and the "jumbo" Girling calipers, new castor rod bushes, and new brake hoses.

The improvement to handling and braking is massive, the difference is like night and day, the car is so much more confident on the road. It actually understeers now, and the tyres on the original rims are the limiting factor at the moment. I cant wait to fit the 26mm front swaybar as well.

The ride is quite harsh, but not really any worse than my 242, so I should get used to it pretty quickly. If it does start to get on my nerves I might have to cough up the $$$ for some custom made springs to my specs.
