It's been quite a while since I last posted any pics, so here are some I took today. Picture quality isn't great, I took them late in the day without flash. On the link below you will find pics of my '74 164 project car, my sister's '69 142S, my new Simmons V5 three peice 15x7 alloys for my 760T, and some amusing pics of the grass which is growing on my 164 parts car.

The rest of my more random pics can be seen here:

Those pics are mostly of parts for the 164, as well as my modified 760T airbox, and a few other pics. Pics of my 760T will follow in the next few weeks, once it's lowered with the Simmons fitted.

Enjoy!

Simmons are an Australian wheel company, based in Sydney. They make three piece rims for racing and street applications, high quality, very strong, very pricy when new. It's rare to find any of their wheels in a Volvo stud pattern and offset. They custom make wheels to order, which is what mine may have been.

Mine are an older style called the V5, popular in the late '80's-mid '90's, no longer made. I can't wait to get tyres on them and fit them to the 760!

Ah yes, those Simmons.
Just about every 2nd Alfa GTV6 had them, when Alfa GTV6's were new! :)
They'll suit the 760 pretty well.

Hey, the window trim on the 164; is that standard? Or 264 stuff?

Hi Angus

I was Watching those wheels on ebay. I just about bid them. But I thought buying these wheels would be a better investment

They are RWD offset TSW blades/twin spokes thay are 17 by 7.5 inch. I will post pics of them on my 740Ti by the weekend along with all the other mods I have done since easter

The V5's are a very dated design these days, but should suit a 760 really well, I quite like them. Nothing wrong with old wheels on an old car.

The window trim is from an early '80's 264GLE, as are the mirrors. The original stuff was all chrome, with the chrome mirrors than can only be adjusted from outside the car, and need to be adjusted every time somebody bumps them walking past the car.

I should put up a couple of the pics I took when I got it, for comparison.

They're a bit too modernistic for me, but should look good on a 740 regardless, especially since the car is red and so are the centre caps. Keep us posted with pics! I'll try to do the same every time I do a few mods.

That 164 is really comming together. Any progress on the supercharger idea? Also how hard was it to change the front end to the earlier 69-72 style?

Thanks, basically all I did was remove the original grille, bumper, bumper brackets, the filler panel behind the bumper, and the section of metal which is spot welded below the grille.

I then fitted the earlier bumper brackets, which is a bit of a job because the brake hoses bolt through them, meaning a brake bleed is required after the job. The early bumper then went on, and the grille goes straight in, but needed a couple of simple aluminium brackets at the top, to bridge the gap between the grille mounting holes and the holes in the nose panel.

I've got some Hella driving lights which are the perfect size for the foglight holes, they will go in when I get a chance.

I'm not too sure on the supercharger idea, it would be a simple bolt on for sure, and I think good results could be had with the 10:1 compression and about 5psi, but adding an intercooler would be quite difficult, and petrol is about $1.40aud per litre here at the moment, but the idea is still tempting.

I want to put foglights on mine too. That is if I can't figure out how to use those holes for a cold air intake. The battery would have to move to the trunk, no biggie.

What about a device to engage the supercharger so you can save some petrol when you don't need the boost?
As far as an intercooler I may be able to mount a small one in front of the oil cooler where the grille is. I want to build an aluminum egg crate grille, or adapt a plastic grille from a 71-72 chevrolet truck and install it further forward to make the room for the intercooler. I've still got to get fuel injection before I can experiment with the turbo route.
