I am trying to find 3 things, and search has kinda helped on one... so I was hoping people could fill me in:

1 - Lower bolt size - 7/16" 20tpi .... but how long!??
2 - Does the screw above the bolt need a larger screw?
3 - should the armrest flip up vertically? Mine doesnt seem to do that as I have it assembled, I'll hafta run to the hardware store and see if i cant pick up some bolts and install this.... but maybe somebody will chime in before I leave!

thanks

john

The center amr rest is supposed to flip up so you can access the seat belt buckle as well as the e brake. I found this one at the JY for $10. Its a perfect fit.

Good call. The armrest is great when you have a passenger or on very long drives. Much more comfortable than the 960 center console.

Easy there, cowboy. She posted a whole thread about the armrest a while back. I guess 58 posts per day keeps you pretty busy...

1" long, 7/16x20 bolt worked for me. The ones filling the holes on my car were much shorter. If you have seat belts anchored there too, you may need even longer bolts.

Should flip up approximately vertical.

I don't remember if I used longer screws to anchor to the side of the parking brake cover, but I think I did. I had an armrest installed for a while, and decided I didn't really need it and it was kind of in the way when shifting.

   nice edit!!

If you go to long on the bolts it can rub the driveshaft. I only noticed this though when I went to the single piece driveshaft.

The bottom bolts were the easy part. The top 2 seem to be sheet metal screws and thats where all the play happens. I patched something up in there but its not as solid as I would like it to be.

Yup, it anchors where the console does (I think). There's also a ratcheting kind that anchors to the driver's seat back.

Well my seatbelts do attach at the bottom, and I found the bolt to be 1 1/2" - I used a very similar size bolt (seemed maybe 2 "threads" longer) and a washer to even it out. Seems ok to me.

I do enjoy it very much, i feel as if i was naturally leaning to the right and this help correct it. And I figured out why it wasn't flipping vertical - i had tightened the top bolt too much (where the brackets connect to the cushion.

Now I'm gonna hafta find a new small project - maybe a tach install... or any suggestions?

- ipd sways are in the medium future
- e-fan conversion might happen but it would be nice to do it with somebody who has done one
- cam swap is in the distant future
- e-code (86+) conversion is in the medium future

I guess that leaves me with white face gauges and lots und lots of little gauges... I suppose a tach conversion would be needed too. But that only leaves me with 2 blanks.... oil pressure and voltage maybe?

Oh fog/driving lights too....just gotta figure out how/where I wanna put them.
