hey guys, im new to all this stuff but i recently got my first car, a 960. i was hoping to put on some 18's and then spend the rest of my time working the engine. who knows maybe it could become a turbo soon. annywayy... if any one has any ideas on the wheels, itd be good. Would the 18's fit on a 960 withouth fme having to flare the guards or do they have the correct stud measuresments needed. Also i dont have a huge deal of money about $1000 Australian, or about $1500 american, so do u think find some aftermarket rims, coz the volvo ones are around $1500 each if your looking at the new ones for instance the Nebula. Anyway thanks for your help..

yea you can fit 18" on there no problem, just try to keep the tire sizes under 245

i have 18x8's with 225/40 on em, and they tended to get in the way of the fender liner. Nothing rubs turning in either direction (even at full lock) but if I hit the brakes hard, the fender dips down and knocks the tire. So basically, they kinda fit. I dunno is theres somethin goin on with my offset, but they otherwise work right. The best thing to do is to find what wheel nd tires you want, where you want to put them, then flare the fender and set bumpstops to where everything works...

In agreement with the other guys yes you can. Make sure the offset is right though as you can go through bearings. You might also want to invest in lowering suspension as the 18s will jack your car up and make it look like a 4X4. When I put them on mine it looked hysterical as the fender sat a good 4-5 inches above the tire.

Good luck!! I'm a fan of the bigger rims, and yes, make sure its a lower profile tire you put on it. nothing bigger than a 45series.

Just wondering if anyone's ACTUALLY had problems with killing healthy, properly greased bearings? I can't imagine it...

I am running 17" by 8"'s with 235's on a 940 and I have no issues whatsoever (aside from minor rubbing in the rear on the REALLY big bumps. Check out my thread in the "projects" subforum, it has basically everything you need to know about mounting and running larger wheels on a volvo.

I'll see if I can hang 265's off the rear and kill them with one drive a month. Doubt it.

PS: I've got a horrible noise from a wheel bearing race spinning in the rear axle. Does that count?
