Well I've finally decided to start a thread for myself. I got my car several years ago, not really into volvo's at all, but needed reliable DD. I got more and more interested in them and was in constant conversation with my dad about going faster, or getting another car. Well little did I know that there was an 85 760T at the shop in the back lot with a decent turbo and all sorts of other fun parts I needed to, "go fast".

Well about a year later my grades were finally good enough to convince my dad to help(well do all the work really) +T the car. So the timeline begins I guess....

Here is the car when I first got it in 2003:

The first "mod" was getting a CD player. So I installed a JVC KD-SX780 AM/FM/CD (no pics of the install). The next order of business was taking care of the nasty yellow'ish headlights, so in October of '04 I finally found a good deal and installed them.

And at that time, it was the last pictures I took before the engine bay started going down hill...

So finally just after Christmas and at the start of 2005 the madness began. Many if you saw my first few posts takling all sorts of craziness about high boost, upside-down intercooler, and on and on. Well parts of those fibs came true, and I did end up with an upside-down intercooler, but I guess I'm getting ahead of myself.

This is my Garrett T3 -- .42/.48 oil cooled spoolin goodness

To make a long story short after much frustration and me learning how it feels to break a stud off in the block, the turbo finally made it's way into the engine:
http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/1-6_engine1.jpg

JOY! Right? Well not really. I then took an extremely long time with different sorts of fab work, and being a dummy and using PVC for intercooler piping. Well, the dummy part only comes up because we didn't think to use PVC or rubber elbows, we instead cut and sealed pieces together(DONT DO THAT OMG!)

So we finally make it to this:

So here I am, on a stock N/A computer, open cat, and smiling like no tomorrow. Now my car has been through many stages.... Totally N/A, N/A ECU + T, different injector swaps, +T and MS, +T MS and all sorts of tuning, +T MS and some actual wideband tuning.... and prolly some different variations I've forgotten about. At this point I'm suprised the car is still going, it's been through detonation, not enough fuel, too much fuel, operator error, MS problems, UGH! But again, I'm getting ahead of myself.

I was given some advice, and finally took it, and scored myself a Volvo B cam.

http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/2-16/cam1.jpg

At the same time I finally got some exhaust work done... Now, let me complain. The people I took it too said there was no way they could do a 3'' cat-back because there wasn't enough room, BEEEEE ESSSSSSS. However, what I got was a 2 1/4'' cat-back, bent, welded, hung, the muffler welded in and hung, and two brand new tips put on, for $85.... so I'll shutup now.

http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/2-16/exhaust3.jpg

http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/2-16/exhaust4.jpg

And it was a good time for me anyways because I also got a tachometer
http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/2-16/interior1.jpg

And while we were at it we did the timing belt, water pump, seals, and I scored some foglights:
http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/2-16/lights.jpg

So... Going well I guess....

Finally got the foglights put on:
http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/3-2/foglights1.jpg

http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/3-2/foglights2.jpg

And found time to wash the car:
http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/3-7/7.jpg

So that concludes the start of the +T through march. At this point I was still running on the N/A computer, being extremely careful on the gas, etc. And you'd think by now I would freakin get MS already or do something about something... nahh, i got some tail lights instead!

http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/3-23/tail3.jpg

http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/3-23/tail6.jpg

And here is the MS... Well coming soon anyways. To delay myself again I got some of IPD's adjustable torque rods, world's of difference let me tell you!

Old and busted:
http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/4-21/old_rods4.jpg

New hotness:
http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/4-21/new_rods1.jpg

http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/4-21/new_rods4.jpg

So finally, towards the end of April, I finally got the MS and got up enough guts to tackle the project(sorta). I'd advise you to view all the pictures( http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/4-21/ ) but here are some highlights:

http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/4-21/ms_mess1.jpg

http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/4-21/ms_mess3.jpg

http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/4-21/ms4.jpg

So we enter a new stage... MS... mmmm... And again I'll save the useless battles and just tell you, I've been through so many little stages and tables, it's insane.

Not much has gone on since then though, just as I said alot of different stages with the MS and all sorts of misc. tuning. In June I painted the amber pieces in my turn signals black:

http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/6-19/signal4.jpg

And finally got rid of the POS air filter I had:
http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/6-22/old2.jpg

http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/6-22/new2.jpg

And that about sums it up! The current status of the vehicle is too hard to explain, but basically the MS box is doing so many weird things that I have unhooked it and am looking into getting the turbo ECU/ICU as a temporary fix so that I can get some things done right. The current plans are to: redo the IC piping, redo the exhaust(full 3''), redo much of the wiring for MS, get MS put back in, hook up spark control, get tuned and hope for 200hp!

Deep down I love this car, and through all the complaints I don't ever really want to get rid of it. +T has surely been an expereice, and if you have the time, then go for it.

I full list of things I've done to the car can be viewed here: http://sp3ak.tunkeymicket.com/cars/volvo/

Sweet! And I got a set of those IPD torque rods too. I just tingle all over looking at 'em.

Keep it up bro!

Thanks man, yeah they helped out so much. Now all I need is sways and stiffer springs :)

I need to pop under the rear of the car and check everything out. For some reason the lock-nut for them comes loose alot, dunno why.... They are quality pieces though. When I installed them I did have to "lube" them up a bit because they made some crazy loud squeaking noises.
