Does anyone here have any personal experience with running wire wheels? Searching the web I got lots of lowrider crap but very little useable information. I want to find out how strong they are, how to convert the hubs, what kind of upkeep (aside from constant cleanings), performance +'s & -'s and generally if they are going to be more trouble than they are worth. I'm interested in eventually running borrani's or 60's style dayton's on the "162".

Might be a lie; but when I coveted some I was told they don't hold up past 140km/hr. Whatever that means  they look pretty classy tho imo.

My dad has a set of wires on is 1959 Jaguar XK150, and he has another set on his 1994 Jaguar XJ12. They look extremely nice, but are a pain to keep clean. Also, I don't know where that 140km/h figure came from, but the wires came on both of those cars stock from the factory, and both of those cars can hit 150 mph. In fact the XJ12 was designed to cruise all day at that speed...
Moral: I like them, they look good, but are a pain to keep clean.
Take Care,
Kirk
