ive just bought a 77 240 dl 2 door (4spd / od) and im thinking about building a little screamer out of the car... the outside is a nasty ass yellow and thats gonna change this weekend to a satin black, my question is what kind of styling modifications can i do to this thing besides lowering it and a set of rims ( will a 18in deep dish 5spoke fit?) im new to volvo's and im looking to tunr this thing around from being the ugly duckling of the parking lot to the car that it CAN BE... also is intercooled turbo motor a drop in procedure or do i need a fuel pump and computer amongst other things for this car... ( i bought a parts car for 5 dollars so ive got reasonable amount of extra parts for this car) i use to own nothing but hondas, but ive gotten tired of them, i wanted a challeng and bought the sweedish meatball of the auto industry... IT HAS POTENTIAL AND I WANT TO MAKE IT WORK OUT....HELP ME OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
welcome man, you are in the right place and that car's a great starting point. there's too much info on this site to post in this thread, search around, check the board at least every couple days and you'll pick up small things since you're a noob to volvos(i've only been here a year)
i'm sure someone will post pics of some 242 hotness, although most prefer the stockish look of these cars, not many body kits out there for us

seriusly, there isnt alot of stuff you can do on the exterior on a old volvo like yours. trust me, im swedish! ( )
you could rebuild it to have the post 1984 look (i think its just a matter of changin fenders and stuff)

there are a few good parts that weren't options here, e-code headlights, better heads(ex: 531), 16vt parts. but you could build a quick/fun car with junkyard/ebay parts no doubt. don't spend too much real quickly, because as you stick around, you'll find better deals on certian parts.
but to modernize the look of your car, you can put newer 240 bumpers on it, some even have put fwd volvo bumpers on certian cars, but it's not an easy bolt on i bet.

Just dont copy mine! Good luck just come up with whatever you like you can fit 18's by rolling your fenders so they dont rub.

i wanna copy your paint scheme. It's too bad that it'd cost way too much to paint the trunk, the door jambs, and engine compartment.

i know anything is possible but, is it possible to set the damn car up drifting?
towery drifts his 88 244dl(NA), i'm sure others do to. blkaplan started a thread a while back about setting up a 240 for drift event, theres a couple pages of good info in that thread
