Finally got a cd player! Used off Ebay, mounted it the stock radio holder with a bit of trimming & a small bracket.

Nice job. I need to find one of those frames, looks much nicer than the aftermarket ones. Didn't they only come on the 760 and 780s?

I used the stock radio face from the stock radio(didn't work), It has 2 screws at each side, then I carefully cut/trimmed out the center to the exact size of the newer cd player. I actually used epoxy on the edges to secure it because the player's screw holes didn't match a good spot on the plastic face cover. The new player came with the DIN case. (sliding mount). I bent a 1/4 inch strip of metal into an "]" shape. I screwd this to the bottom of the slider case, using the folding tabs to hold the upper & side positions. If you realy force it it will move but scratch the plastic sides of the large radio box, it is in there tight! The screw at the back of the box is harder to insert with the DIN case it place but a long screwdriver & steady hands help. (dropped the screw 2x behide the fuse tray!!!) Pass the wiring harness through & slide the player in. Again, using more DIN tabs, the new player with old radio face slides into the whole case within a case & is held firmly in place as normal by the side spring clips & tabs. The front face has always been a tight surface fit so that holds the front in well. If I pry the front, I can pull the radio out with a firm tug so it would be easy to steal as there are no real clips to pry like a correctly mounted stereo. ( it might fly out in a major accident but then I think I have more to worry about the a daggling stereo!) Overall, I am confident that it is held in place tight enough that it doesn't move at all, even when I pull on the detachable radio face that this player has ( like I said, pry & FIRMLY tug.) Besides I never liked the 'push-out' look of the aftermarket adapters & I am happy with the semi-stock look:volvo:

PS. I will get a few shots of the inside view soon
