Nice setup. I miss having a garage. Recently my workplace has been the parking lot where I have to keep my car for school.:-( I'll have to find someplace else that is covered soon once winter sets in...

I have buddies that own a shop...they squeeze me in where theres room and make inapropriate comments about my boobs and pigtails all day long!!!

I LOVE it!

I've learned a crap load from these guys, wouldn't trade them for the world.

I work on my cars wherever they break down. :-P

Usually though it's in the parking lot at the apartment complex I live in or at Isaiah's shop - Performance West, where I'm at every weekend. I too, miss having a garage to call my own.

Have to agree there. Although I dont have a garage at home either. Sometimes its the nearest autoparts store parking lot, other times its in my parking space at school. At home its on my gravel driveway.

I'd realy love to get myself a good garage with lifts and all, but man, my friend has one in his cart racingklubs garage. But its full of racing carts all the time, so no room. Damn, one off these little buggers in there cost more than my two cars together :P

I understand your talking about ****ing your cars tailpipe but that joke is disjointed. Maybe if we knew you lived in a garage(bedroom = garage) this would have a chance at being funny.

Used to just do work on the street outside my house unless the car was going to be down for more than a day. Then I would use the garage behind the house. If it rains I am stuck in the garage though lol because it is a grass/mudd path to it!
http://www.eric-o.com/images/other/DSC00025.JPG
But now I have my own 2 car garage right on the street, with space out in front! The bad thing about not living at home is TOOLS. I have never really had to buy anything besides specialty and air tools, so now I have a lot to make up for!

When you're a homeowner, you'll care!!!

(OK, perhaps some people still don't care, but around here, $500k is for a 1000 sq.ft. fixer-upper. Clean concrete adds value, since we don't consider a 2-car garage for parking. Nope - that's 400 additional sq.ft. of valuable space for the house.)

-- Kane ... seriously, spend the 99-cents for a can of degreaser and cat litter and clean it up.

I think this is a repost for me... but i'll go for it. There is a little story to go with where I work on my cars.

I moved back home after a year of college, jobless. Some of you know I live in a smaller town in the middle of nowhere Canada (I still love it here though). A month after i'm home one of the buildings my father rents out became vacant (electric motor re-wind business went south). The place was a dirty mess.. needed fixing up for rental again. So rather then dad paying for someone else to renovate, he decides to pay me to help him refinish it... so he can rent it out to another business (or is he.... :badboy:)

Anyways, here is a couple of pictures in the beginning stages.. I was already anxious to get cars in there, and I helped a friend of mine swap a b16a into his CRX (vtec powa!)
http://album3.snapandshare.com/23/15/511965.jpg
http://album3.snapandshare.com/23/15/511967.jpg

So we finish doing most of the renovations. Dad gets thinking, while i'm still home we'll use it for a place to wrench on our own stuff.. he needed a bigger place for his 55 nomad anyway.

So for $200 a month shop rental I'm in there too (better then fair since I live at home for free)
After! Just getting settled in (you can see my bare b230ft block next to my toolbox and chevelle before it went in the 244 :D)
http://album3.snapandshare.com/23/13/2014.jpg
http://album3.snapandshare.com/23/15/2005.jpg
Myself REALLY settled in.
http://album3.snapandshare.com/23/15/511947.jpg

It's basically my second home.. makes living in a smaller town great since there is always something to work on when i'm bored. Big lot means i can store parts cars which I seem to be finding deals on lately. It's going to be tough when I move next year, back to the street like the olden days!

Geoff that setup is awesome. If I end up staying here in Richmond for college, which is a possibility, I'll probably buy a place like that for working on my cars. My dad and I have looked into several places, but never really did it because of being unsure where I'll be come next year. Its a perfect idea, city property values are increasing, so I can pick up a space, fix it up, and have nice shop for a while, and then we can sell it for profit.

What kind o Triumph you got?

It's a 79 Spitfire 1500.
Missing the drivers side floorboards but other then that the body is in pretty nice shape.
The transmission is out of it right now.
it needs a lot of work and at this point I haven't decided whether or not to even put the stock engine back in or go for something more exotic.

If you know your staying there for awhile I definitely would. Well... as long as you have a fair amount of spare time to make use of it. Sounds like there isn't much downside too getting a shop of your own!

Without having our shop my 244 wouldn't have it's new motor, my 242 would probably still have k-jet and I wouldn't even have the winter car since I wouldn't of bought it in the first place due to lack of storage (now I had the chance to fix it up, and i'll probably refresh my spare b21ft so I can sell it in spring.. should make at least $1000) Not to mention it's handy if you need to help friends. I helped one haul a car in to pull the motor, he left me with the car which I can probably sell for about $500.

So in conclusion you'll be losing money if you don't get a shop

(Re: greasy dirty driveways)
When you're a homeowner, you'll care!!!

Hmmm...let's see...I own it...I don't really care :-P

Simple work gets done on the driveway.
For serious work, I can get on to a spare hoist at work, although that's not appropriate for jobs that are likely to take more than a day.
For >1 day jobs, a mate has a biiiiiig shed with a hoist in it. Sometimes he doesn't have a car on it (the newest of his four cars is a '74 model).
