if it is a bosch redcap dizzy you can use it, you do need to get a 124/139 ignition amplifier from a 740, or a saab 900.

i am going to the junk yard friday. what does this critter look like? where is it located? the dizzy i have has a 3 pin round connector on a 6 inch pigtail (had an orangish redish top on it when i bought it. now has a black top (not made by bosch - was what advance had in stock))

Then it isnt the right one, the one you need has a square connector. The amp is located in the passenger side fender in a 700 series (it might be the drivers side, im not sure) let me find ya a pic

wrong!

It will work.

Find your wiing diagram and hook it up as shown on the diagram.

+ = 12v
0 = signal
- = ground
(I run a 1k ohm resistor between the 12v side and the signal as shown on Anthony Hydes website where he is hooking that dizzy up to Haltech)

The only thing the round plug means is that you have to decide which side to cut off (the dizzy side and put on a new plug - or the harness side and keep the connector - although I vote for #1 b/c those round connectors sucked)

It is still a hall effect. It works the same as the other ones (even the white one - even though it is a little different, same principle and I bet a hundred dollars I could make it work. Feel free to paypal gregables{at}yahoodotcom if your feeling that...

What Darkness said,

I have an 83 and was going to use the stock dizzy but something happened and that pigtail with the round connector on it got caught in the rotating gates for the hall sensor and was reeled into the dizzy like a bunch of 10 pound test line on my cheapy Zebco.

I bought a replacement dizzy that came out of a 1987 240 dl and it had the square connector on the side of the dizzy.
Then I dropped that dizzy before I got a chance to install it and broke the connector off.
To get my car running I soldered the pigtail with the round connector onto the wires on the hall sensor inside the dizzy.

The 87 dizzy worked just fine with my 83 ecu's.
Now it's running MSnS and working just great so I have every reason to believe that it works the same as the stock one just with a different plug.

I thought it might work, but i wasnt sure, so i didnt want to tell someone it would. Thats nice to know that for sure it will work. Are you turboing it at the same time? if not, the injectors you have are fine for now.
