I'm wondering where to get my car's paint color in a heat-resistant enamel to paint the 960 valve cover in after I de-rust it...

I can see why, I need for a four cylinder.
Step 1: Buy/Steal/Pillage a valve cover.
Step 2: Clean.
Step 3: Paint/Powdercoat.
If you get it powdercoated, make sure to get it blasted, that is the best way to ensure that it has a uniform finish when it is all done. I do powdercoating, but all my equipment is at my parents house at the moment..

You can likely find a shop locally that can do the powder coating, I paid about 15$ for the cover and 50$ for the powder coating.
I noticed someone got a good deal on a B21/B23 cover and pipes of ebay:

I might have bid on it but I'm no going for black.

While that's not my style, I can appreciate the attention to detail; very neat! :)

Use normal paint. No special paint is needed for a cam cover.
Tec-base over Sikkens, with cheapo Kirker clear. Champagne, red, burgundy, clear pearl.

thanks, I wasn't sure about which type to use just because of the somewhat structural nature of the valve/cam cover on the whiteblocks. Now, how about plastic-safe paints for the spark plug and timing belt covers. Preferably in the blue color from a S60R plug cover

it's slightly more complicated for mine as the underside of the cover contains the oil gallery for the head, cams, and lifters, so I'll want to have the bejeezus masked out of that area.
