Would it be a smart idea to no longer allow people to post without logging in?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I tire of one line potshots from annonymous users.

Yeah, let it be like the OT forum is now, that would be nice.

Bad idea, I dont think the the guest function should be disabled, people come here because they need help and here and BB are the best places to get it. If they cant use the site, they will just go elsewhere to get help and this site will be downsized because another "newer" one is more friendly twards idiots

I think it should be set up so anyone can view any topic, but you have to be a logged in member to post.

cant do it.

what i can/will do is limit access as much as possible as far as the fun and interesting stuff goes... in this day and age theres no reason not to have a username.

for those who are interested heres some facts you may not know:

cookies - this board and website set a cookie that remembers your session ID so that you dont have to log back in each time. The board database keeps track for you what you've read etc.. thats all secure internal

valid email address isnt required

IP addresses are logged for both guests and members, Im the only one who can see them

The only difference is you cant go search for all posts by you if you're a guest... you'll get all posts by all guests

besides the mechanical stuff, its only showroom/events and this forum... those are kinda important to have for guests
