Hi all I'm in a bind, Daily driver has been off line for a couple of months fjor a cause of blown up ECU now I checked everything on the car and first time i suspected a voltage spike from the alternator.

Now i received a working ECU from someone, check on the car and should be working but the bitch blew it up like the other. So I am gonna rip everything from the injection and ignition system(LH2.4) And go MS&S but I need your help.

Building the system itself, welding and all I can do it. Wiring the car, I can do it rather easily. Program the box I found good thread to help me learn. I need specific info on where toj get accurate RPM signal since I'll have to figaure also the spark side of things. Car is a 1990 16v 740 mated to a stock 740 88'ish garrett T3 and auto trans if it helps. Also need to know wich kit I am better off with, to me it seems the 3.0 board would be best.

My plan would be at best coil on plug while retaining stock flywheel but if it seems infeasible I can settle to anything non-EZK altough I would seriously like to find a way to keep the volvo flywheel for RPM pickup stuff.

Thanks all!

What you're after can be done. Most MSnSers go to a blockmount LH2.2 dist from a 240 and use that hall sensor to drive MSnS. I think Kenny (linuxman51) uses a flywheel sensor on his 16VT, since there's not room for a blockmount dist on a 16V.

Hopefully he will chime in. If not, PM is your friend.

I thought kenny had a block mount for the hall, and a head mount for the actual distribution of the spark.

yes, i went the overcomplicated but yet easy route, and used two distributors (Actually, I didnt have a hall effect head-mounted distro when i first got the car running).

On your car, the lh 2.4 crank angle sensor is your best bet, but first figure out whats cookin the electronics

Well I was more inclined towards getting the electronics out of the car completely and rewiring from the ground up, some wire must've shorted when I had that voltage spike so rewiring would solve the unfound problem and I would start with fresh new wires. And for the original crank sensor, has anybody used it yet with MS?

i suspect so but not on this board that anyone's said?. I will next week fo sho.

How come nobody's done it yet?? I would have tought it easier than hooking a second distributor :???: anyway... pave the way and enlighten us!:)

Just to say, i followed Kenny's example and used a block mount Dizzy for the Pickup and used the standard Head Dizzy for the spark distribution, because The head dizzy/rotor and leads are all 1 month old and i'm too cheap to buy 240 stuff, and i'm working on going to flywheel and coil pack setups very soon.
