I won't kill the 56k crowd, so I'll just post up my pbase link and list up the spec sheet on it for now.

This is my 1983 Volvo 242 Turbo. I bought her from a coworker (and TB member, Doublebit) for the paltry sum of $250, but it hadn't run in almost 3 years and had been sitting outside on his property that whole time with the windows down and the sunroof open. :omg: Why you ask? Well, both outer door handles had broken (typical 240 :grrr: ) so he left the windows down so he could get into it. A new battery and it ran, but needed lots of TLC. I originally bought it to be a 'beater' to get me by since I needed a cheap car. A few years and a several thousand bucks later, I don't want to get rid of it. In fact, I've owned several other Volvos since buying this one and this is the one that has stayed a permanent part of my stable. Anyway, onto to the setup...

Oh yeah, the nitrous kit. I knew I was forgetting something. :-P

A couple fairly recent pics. Well, nothing cosmetically has changed since these were taken anyway - a first for my car.

A quick update, pics to follow as it happens. :-P

The K-jet still hasn't died, but I think I've reached the limits of the air metering plate, and to be honest I DO have the proper V8 K-jet parts to convert it but I simply don't have the desire to mess with it anymore. The ol' B21FT needs a head gasket anyway, so the 160 head and the whole K-jetronic system is coming off, and a fresh 530 head with a stand-alone Civinco EMS utilizing an Innovate LC-1 wideband is going on, along with EDIS for the ignition. Should be fun.

I was going to drop in a '95 B230FT to replace the B21FT, but the '95 944Ti parts car I picked up turned out to have an '87 B230FT block in it. Talk about pissed off. :grrr: I guess it's time to see just how much abuse an already abused B21FT (with ~310k miles on it) can take.

Local and very interested! I'm sort of confused on something though. If I was to purchase it, it would need a new head gasket? This car sure is beautiful, I'm suprised I haven't seen it around.

But to humor, it does not need a HG (look at the 2005-07 posting dates in this thread). Currently; it needs an EMS, IC & intake piping fabbed, and IC mounts fabbed.

She's been sitting for ~2 years now, probably why you haven't seen it around.

This is my favorite car on TB. White is THE color for 242's in my opinion.

This is my favorite car on TB. White is THE color for 242's in my opinion.I think so too, but I hate to admit that it's almost 'played out' at this point IMO. White is a classic, clean look though. I do have a gallon of '70 Dodge Charger blue (B5?) that was slated to be this cars new color, beautiful blue color with a slight touch of metallic in it. But maybe that'll end up on the 142 instead...if the 242 actually sells.
