so I was thinking of how to fit a stock looking boost gauge in my car (once it makes boost of course) and I was thinking that a digital readout placed in the instrument cluster could be a very cool and OEM looking way of fitting a calibrated boost gauge in the car. I was thinking that I would either fit it under the tach where the boost gauge on a turbo 940 goes, or take out the analog clock altogether and have 2 or 3 digital gauges located there behind an OEM looking black bezel piece.

Here is one of the units I was looking at(I'd only use the internals), does anyone else have any suggestions or comments?

I think putting that plus another gauge where the clock is would look great. maybe the boost gauge and wide band O2 readout.

I am putting my boost gauge in the left heater vent on my 744gl f+t. been working on the prototype using the OEM boost gauges. i have like 10 of them. I am going to use one of the oil temp gauges i have to keep an eye on the ATF temp and a volt meter. both well be locater in the center heater vent.

Summit has some digital gauges that are pretty cheap. I think they may have a boost gauge...

Last i checked Summits brand of gauges did not include boost.

But, their digital gauges are made by Nordskog and that other company, Cyberdyne, i think? But, i believe they are one and the same, i could be wrong.

They all seem to be the same company, i wouldn't be surprised if Dakota Digital was part of the companies mentioned.

They make the digital boost gauges.

EDIT: Here you go. Cheaper, but readins don't go as high, but come with sending units

Just a note, my friend had one a while back in his Talon, he said it wasn't easy to read because of the constantly changing numbers.

Personally, I am just going to use the differential pressure meter from my project, and leave only one side hooked up, instant boost gauge, that can datalog. But, thats also the size of an LM1, so maybe not :-P

Let us know how it works.

now my next question is on what people whink would look better. Should I try to find a red LED boost gauge and convert all of the interior lights to red ones or get a green flourescent one that would match the other digital readout for the radio.

I'm also wondering if anyone knows where I could get a cheap LCD digital clock that would fit in the instrument cluster space where the exterior temperature LCD was on some cars.

there is nothing more annoying on this plannet than a digital gauge.

just try driving a mid 80s corvette with the digital tach.

fricken worse than death.

I installed a digital Vac/Boost gauge in my a pillar thats made by a company called VEI. First of all its very easily set up for different readouts etc, it has the exact readout and a bar graph readout, it has been extremely accurate. It uses red LEDs. I talked with the one of the people in that company and they are very knowledgeable and overall helpfull. I highly reccomend their gauges. Right now they are developing mini gauges.
