I dynoed my '98 S70 T5m at Pro-Motion in Fredricksberg, Va on Saturday. Its completely stock and I was expecting about 180-190 to the wheels. Heres what I got

Cool... that dyno might be a little generous, but either way thats a good run!

dynojets exaggerate things, a dyno dynamics or mustang dyno would give a more accurate WHP reading. Dynojets are much closer to your crank horsepower, and are still very useful and great for tuning...

Perhaps in your little world, most people hold Dynojets to being pretty close to the standard.
That dyno there I know for a fact reads about right, slightly on the low side compared to others. Been there before, "stylngle2003" dynoed up there a few weeks ago.
You should watch the Events section, we get together alot in VA here.

we have a dynojet at work, the very first one, it is very accurate and works great.

This smells of "I wish my car made that sort of power" sentiment.
When was your car last on a dyno Barnett? what sort of figures did you get back?

hmm, at school here we go by the dyno dynamics unit at KTR performance as the gospel in terms of what your car actually makes, people are more down on the dynojets as far as accurate WHP readings go, but we still use them, especially since we have a sponsorship link with new england dyno and performance, which is a dynojet setup. Their dyno usually reads 5-10% higher than the dyno dynamics one, for instance a classmate's DSM put down 235 on a dynojet and only 191 whp on the dyno dynamics
and my car made 93 wheel horsepower on the dynojet, I didn't get a chance to dyno it on the dyno dynamics one, though a classmate's 65 mustang with the 200 cubic inch straight-six (with the manifold cast into the head and a single barrel carb) put down 41 wheel horsepower.

Mustang dyno.
122hp, 155 ft-lbs, 6psi, stock b21ft.

dynojets are more accurate.....
We have one at work and people ask about its accuracy all the time... Beyond that theres lots of things that contribute to what a car puts down. Different dyno different day, thats all. Weather, tire pressure, blah blah blah. Some dyno's are generous just to make people happy.
Also you can pull up different corrections like STD and SAE. We use SAE for everything and sometimes we will pull up the STD number just to show the customer and explain the differences.
Just becuse one DynoJet doesn't dyno the same as something else doesn't mean they are all crap. From what I hear all mustang dyno's are sh*t... Anyways.
BACK ON TOPIC:
Cool :) Seeing a car on the dyno isn't too special anymore since I work at a shop with one that dynos cars every day but it's always nice to see Volvo's representin :)
Sounds like its about time for mods now that you have a baseline ;)

Pro Motion has a really nice new dyno. I doubt that it's off. I've never seen a dyno that moves back and fourth in ground like that.

where do you live? as andy said i dynoed there a few weeks back

So does that qualify as pig rich?
And how/where is AFR measured? Datalogs from my WB aren't anywhere near that smooth.
Regardless, those are sweet numbers! Since torque peak is right as you start the run, is it possible that you have more down low?

He very likely has more torque down low, Those guys have a bad habit of starting their pulls at high RPM, but if you let them know you want to start down low, they'll gladly do it for you.
They were measured by a Dynojet A/F meter at the tailpipe I'm sure.
Definitely a lil on the rich side though.

you can't always start the run down low with an automatic.

Since it was an auto he had to start above a certain RPM so that it wouldn't kick down :)
Auto cars that we don't disable kickdown on get started at close to 3,000 RPM... 2,000-2,500 after that. And that's not "pig rich". Really rich (Kristi Alley fat as we call it) is when it goes below 10 :)
Though it is more fuel than desired it is pretty safe in that range.
And if it is a dyno jet than the reading is measure by a wideband that has a sniffer that gets stuck up in the tail pipe.

Mustang dyno.
122hp, 155 ft-lbs, 6psi, stock b21ft.
Considering that your car does not have the intercooler installed (or does it?), those are exceptionally good numbers, Luke.
If you have the IC installed, and are running only 6 psi, those are still pretty darn good! If you upped the boost to 10.5 (like stock IC cars were after 3700 rpm), that should be about 160 hp - which means your engine/transmission have 0% power loss! Rather, that your engine/turbo are extremely efficient.

that is why the dynos like the Mustang are nice, you can run your car at 2000rpm for 5 minutes if you want while tweaking the ECU and get the exact hp numbers gained or lost, being able to put a load at any rpm is nice for tuning and you'll get quicker results than with an acceleration type dyno......
both the dynojet and the mustang work, depends on what you are trying to do, just get numbers or tune the motor for every 100rpm increments

Wrong.
Promotion has an in-ground Dynojet 224xLC 4WD. That means, its a All-Wheel drive eddy load controller dyno, meaning it has a full load controller.

my bad, I've only seen the acceleration type dynojets, didn't know they had full load capibilities

if that's the case I might only be thinking of the acceleration-type dynojet I saw as opposed to the uber sexy ADM (aussie) dyno dynamics lowboy at KTR...
