Since Dale put up the PAC NW meet notice i thought i would post the other thread about the hopefully huge Volvo meet...:)
Temporarily planned for May Long Weekend...19, 20, 21, 22...
Basically in Calgary we have about 20 members of the local group, some who are not active TBrickers and cannot make long cruises etc like the PAC NW would be...so the idea was to have other people come to Calgary to have a "2006 Meets Kickoff Party" involving a BBQ, a mini cruise (remember though, mini to us refers to distance, not the amount of cars...so a mini 8 hr cruise or something along those lines), and hopefully as well as a track night on friday the 19th...if the track is open (weather)...and if people can get here for that...
THIS IS OPEN TO ANYONE WILLING TO COME!!!
Temp Agenda...input needed to finalize something
Friday May 19 - people arrive and we have a track night followed by some sleep, for those from far away, wobbly pops, and food galore!!!
Saturday May 20 - Have a BBQ kickoff party at a dyno shop here in town...maybe do some photo shoots at various places around the city...basically just have fun in Calgary and allow people to "see" Calgary...
Sunday May 21 - the mini cruise...TBA on that sunday...prior to sunday some of us Calgarians will plan it...but will not tell everyone where/what we are doing until the day of the cruise...i think this is a neat idea...especially for those out of town'ers who join us!
After the cruise either have a night of relaxation/hanging out/sleep...OR...leaving and heading home...although Monday the 22nd is a holiday so you can drive home that day too.
Thoughts, ideas, question, comments, suggestions???
ciao

 hellooooo Edmonton guys! I know there's at least 11 of you registered with location as "edmonton".
And Stylie, cancel your appointment and come out. With Vik being so graceful on his figure skates I bet he is a hell of a hairstylist too and can hook you up.

Arg.. May long! Well I guess that'll save me 16 hours worth of gas. I've got a big camping trip with friends that weekend. If plans somehow change.. i'll try make it there with the 244 (doubt the 242 will be trip worthy then).

I've got camping space in my backyard, but you'd better bring foamies 'cause it's not exactly the softest grass... Oh, and there IS the tradition of snow on May Long, at least nearer to the mountains so we'd better have a plan "b".
Stylie - hair appointment or not, you'd better be planning on joining us for the August one in BC. You may need to pay for another type of fairy (ferry) ride besides the hair thing, but it'll be worth it.

Depending on if my dad has found his own place or not, I may have a spare bed, for sure floor space though, one thick foamy and one thermarest.

from one of our fearless leaders...
My machinist shares space with a dyno shop. As many times as I've been there, I've only ever seen one car on the dyno. I was talking to Trev today when I was up there and he told me about the guy that owns the dyno...
While it's a business, he's not necessarily in it to make money. Apparently he's loaded to the hilt from the sale of some software comp
any he used to own and this is kind of a play thing. I can believe that considering Trev pulled the cover off an engine stand to reveal a $25,000 SBF engine that he plans to drop in his '88 Mustang.
Anyhow...on to dyno time. He usually charges $85 an hour for single pulls but...if we get a group of 6 or more people together we can do a dyno "day". He charges $50 a car and you get as many pulls as there is time to do. What he'll do is put a car on the dyno and do a pull and then a second pull. If the first and second pull aren't within a couple of hp, he'll do another. Trev says he's seen this guy do 5 pulls in a row before he loads the next car. There is an extra $10 or $15 for doing a pull with the o2 hooked up.
So...there you have it. If you want to tune a bit or if you just want to know how much hp your car is putting down, this seems like a pretty cheap way to go. I realize we probably won't do this until the spring when everyone pulls the beasts out of the garage but it's something to keep in mind...

I just called IPD and Jerrod sed that the Garage Sale is the 3rd Saturday in May, which is May 20th. You may want to:
A) re-schedule
or
B) plan this w/e around an event in the Portland area - lots of Volvonuts will be there!
Just a suggestion.

You can count me in!
I moved to Hinton last month and got my Volvo 3 weeks ago (did 4800km in 3 weekends). I can't wait to meet new friends here! Too bad the meeting is only in May!
And I was in Calgary last week-end!
By the way, that's where my Volvo is at it best!! In the snowy mountain! (sorry for the large picture...)

10 spots left
Thanks for your note. I don't think there is any issue with the May long weekend. I never have plans that weekend. To book the dyno day, you do exactly what you are doing which is contact me by phone or e-mail. The normal parameters for a dyno day are as follows:
- Club or group brings a minimum of 6 vehicles and a maximum of 12 vehicles for testing on the same day
- Tests include enough pulls on the dyno to obtain 2 back to back runs that are very close, normally within 1 HP. This usually means 2 to 5 pulls.
- Test results include color laser printed graphs showing the power and torque
- Dyno day pulls do not normally include wideband O2 or boost sensors in order to reduce the turnaround time on each car.
- Dyno day pulls do not normally include any tuning or reconfiguration of the cars to reduce turnaround time, however it is common for customers who need more extensive work to book time the day before or the day after the dyno day for that purpose. Some vehicle changes can be accomodated depending on the number of cars involved.
- Cost is $50/car
- Tecmotion supplies pop and donuts
- A TV is set up at the back of the shop with the dyno display on it so that everyone can see what is going on easily.

Well.. my camping trip is canceled now. There is a good chance I could make it! Are there any spots left on the dyno? My 244 won't be busting out any impressive #'s @ 10psi but it would still be fun.
So there is a slight chance I could make it...
