Heres the plan..
Meet will be here at my house at 12:00 (30 min N of richmond)

If you're working on your car here be here by 11 if possible

Bring your own special brew of Chili, or a Dish of your prefrence

If you're of age to consume adult beverages bring them.. and bring some for a friend! All I ask is that you keep it in a cup. I dont want to see anyone drinking out of a beer bottle or beer can, plain and simple. I dont support underage drinking, so if you think this is a house party you've got it all wrong.

If anyone needs to stay feel free to do so by contacting me via PM or calling me. Nobody leaves my house hosed. Period.

Edit:
Directions are as follows:
Exit 95 on Exit# 98 Kings dominion exit for Route 30 East.

Kings dominion will pass on your right.. cross the tracks.

Drive 12 miles to your first left turn. (pictured below) Halfway you cross Route 301. You will PASS Dicks country store on (your right)... then another mile to Woodys Garage pictured below(also on your right).
Then you take a left onto 604 (or Herring Creek Road)
Lastly making a RIGHT into the first paved driveway on your right.

Illustrated directions below.

1669

When you Pass Woodys Garage take your foot off the gas and start your Decel to stop, it'd probably be a good idea to put your turn signal on at this point. Keep it legit!

1670

You're gonna make a left onto Route 604 or (Herring Creek Road)
Just like this friendly citizen.
1671

Second house on your right.
The first paved Driveway on your right. 446 Herring Creek rd, 23009
1672

Trust me.. you'll know if you're in the right place.

I'm down so long as its after the next ~2 weeks. Give me long enough I may have a Volvo to present, although it'll probalby be something on a trailer still, but that probably won't be until springtime that its really all ready.

Although the 244 is already sitting on the trailer....

I know that if I really work instead of screwing around a clutch only takes a couple hours when I do it at my own facilities with my own tools, couldn't take that much longer at Vince's, although there is that deal that more people equals exponentially more time.

Yeah I'm not sure about bringing any sort of dish on a ~4hr or so drive... If you could front some money to buy stuff I'd be more than happy to give you some money when I get there for food items. Or if there is anything that doesn't need to stay hot/cold then I can surely bring it... (chips, cookies, cups, plates, etc.).

I think it'd be best for everyone to post what they are bringing so that we don't all end up bringing cups and not have bowls for the chili, or whatever :)

Is there a cool place to cruise around? It's always fun to have mass amounts of volvo's terrorizing foreign towns and roads.

what else do we need?
-saltines go well with chili IMO
-chips/cookies are always good for working on cars
-soda of course

I think if everyone brings enough food or drink for themselves plus one person we will have a surplus of food.

I really need everyone thats coming to post like mike, miniman and speak did, speak bring some plastic cups.. those will be needed. If you want to bring 'refreshments' it must be in a plastic cup. not saying that you cant bring a case of refreshment.. just saying it needs to be in a cup when you're drinking it. I want this to look like a college frat party.. whos bringing the entertainment?

Sure do.

I have no good tires that I'm willing to give up. Right now I have:
-Snow tires for my '90.
-MSW's with old, worn out 195/50 Bridgestones for my '87.
-14" bald Azenis on steel wheels
-(4) 205/50 tires that will be used on the MSW's after the Bridgestones are gone (not much tread left on these either)
-And I've got some nasty old 14" tires.
-And some 15" hoosiers.
-And a pair of SMOOTH 225/50/15 BFG's on Jason's red wheels, that will get removed & trashed (unless he wants them...SE4 drag slicks essentially).

I'm REALLY hoping that Falken offers the 225/50/15 RT-615 next summer/fall, because I'll be running out of rubber by then, and I'll need something.

Some are some aren't, you'll have fun ;-) The drive from Atlanta to Richmond is incredibly boring, but at least it's brick friendly without a bunch of big hills or anything. I-85 the whole way except for the last 20 minutes, should take you between 7 and 8 hours. Oh, and you can speed through South Carolina but when you get to NC, you best slow down unless you've got a radar detector. Their highway patrols are insane. Have fun guys!

I should be there with video/camera equipment.
I'll have to see what I can come up with in the kitchen the Friday before. Probably some kind of dessert... maybe a Key Lime pie or 2.
Don't really have much to sell, but I'm bringing all my leftover speakers.

mAydAy
01-12-2006, 07:21 AM
With radar you can freakin ROLL through NC, but you need radar just in case. You'll probably cross only a couple radar setups in NC, but they'll nail you but other than them its good and quick.

SC you can just ruthlessly blast through typically.

Last time I made the drive I was kept down at speed by other factors - like the trailer I was towing, compounded by the fact it was raining. But, I've made the run a few times pretty quickly to different places.

and for petes sake the title is Winter Chili Meat

hasn't anyone ever heard of a double pun?
Should have gone all out and called it "Diamond Hard Winter Nipples Chili Willy Hot Laps Meat". Then again, no. The stock car community would object to using "hot laps" for anything other than a qualifier race.

miniman342: not sure man! I'll try to get ahold of Jason and figure out if he has any plans yet. He and I went to Richmond once already and I think that he has been up there a couple times before so, he knows the area a bit better than I do. Hopefully we can get a small group of us going up. About how long do you figure a b230 intake manifold swap would take on my b21ft?
I have the manifold with the injector holes plugged already, I just need a shopping list for whatever else I might need.
As long as it can be done in a reasonable time along with all the other projects.
I also have a 960 electric fan with the relays that I might need help hooking up.

i can do it pretty quickly, but there will also be spare parts :P mine runs without aic(because mine was broken), no tps(it really does nothing), and a lot of vaccum things not plugged in because i was too lazy to replace the lines. but i bet i could do it(with help) in under an hour if it's just replacing the mani. mine took a little while longer because i unplugged everything and redid it in silicone and didn't remember what went where

if you get a b230 throttle cable it'll be much less of a hack job

Hey I got an idea, you guys want to help me install my A cam:badboy:?
I have a spare valve cover gasket for a 530/531 style head (160/398/405 uses a different gasket because of the rear cam cap). Let me know, I can bring it along.

About how long do you figure a b230 intake manifold swap would take on my b21ft?
Two days if you're like Dana. It shouldn't be that bad, if you have all the stuff. You have the IC plumbing? One thing that we discovered was that the little rod that goes from the throttle plate to the throttle wheel was not close to the right length, so a B23/230 one is needed.

I have a new in bag Volvo intake manifold gasket, if you're interested. $10.

Oh, and make sure the ground wires for the thermal time switch are hooked up...else you'll be struggling for 20 hours trying to figure out why the car runs like poop.

Any other spare parts requests? I've got misc. stuff like IC hoses, turbo-intercooler upper mounts, some stuff, some other stuff, and some more stuff, like cool stuff, and stuff.

jason: no problem d00d... I just figure the closer you are on the day of the meet the better. If you want to plan to come to my house in the morning, whateva. I'm assuming mini and his dad will come over in the morning too and we can all head out by like 8:30? Mapquest says 4hrs but we can cruise along pretty good on 85-North(and its about 130 miles of the trip). I will of course be in touch, and we can iron out travel details as it gets closer to the meet.

I have a few volvo parts... I guess I'll prolly throw all my crap in the car and bring it up with me and if anyone wants it..... most everything will prolly be free, but then again I doubt if there is anything useful, lol. I can try to make a quick list and see if anyone wants anything. I do know right away that I have a speedo-cluster from an 85 760-t and a stock 240 (big)dash clock... I'm tuning my car on Thursday... Or at least dyno'ing it again. I'll have all the time I need because the shop is basically closed that day :) I'm hoping to pull out better than the 150rwhp that I did last time. I might even wash it for the meet!

Minivan- theres a couple of places to heat things up so you or anyone else that wants to bring something to heat are welcome to do so..

Growley- I don't know what to tell you about the beer quantity.. I don't really know how many of the people coming drink. I myself don't drink (that often) so I wouldn't say bring too much more than 24?

OK. One problem with your plan. The turbo outlet is small, maybe 2"? The TB is big, probably 2.5". You need a larger diameter 90° bend.
