→Story: Guy bought this well cared for '94 940T locally at the end of November, next day he gets stone dead blind drunk and takes the car for a drive, somewhere along the way, this happens, but uninjured, he just shrugs it off and keeps on going, and going, and going, and going, until the rear wheel is ground down to this↓. To this day no one knows, including the police, what he hit or what hit him. Driver was unharmed, the car is still drivable, only the driver's door works, hood opens and closes normally, engine compartment is immaculate.

Thank god there were no passengers. The minimum intrusion is about 7 inches at the base of the sill, the max intrusion is around 20" midway up the C pillar. This was a serious high speed impact, and a major testament to the toughness of these cars.

That and an owner's manual, and a like new rear tow hook for the 760.

He means was it. Your story makes it sounds like you sold the car and then that happened.Heh, yeah, sorry I'm a little slow tonight, the last to days have been pretty crazy around here.

No it's not mine, my car even smashed in the same manner, would still look awesome next to that.

Mine is a slightly different color, is badge-less, no sun roof, cloth seats, and has the 960 tail lights.

That an 850 next to yours in that pic?Yes, that photo is at my friends Volvo shop just before I took it home back on June 15, at that time I was surrounded by several dozen 850s, not to mention hundreds of other Volvos.

so do those leather seats fit in a 240 with like, a hair of modification?

Three Fat Tigers
01-22-2006, 03:47 AM
Well the jury is out on that one, a recent thread on that didn't get much response:
http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=61158

The seats in that wrecked 940 look like they have been recently recovered, though it looks like leather, I'm betting it's vinyl, still they look good, and I bet the skins from the damaged seats can be saved to recover another set of seats.

My guess - another drunk driver hit him, who didn't know what he hit.

Definitly both a testiment to Volvo safety and the stupidity of drunks. Drunk drivers are still the highest on the list of people I hate with a burning passion. The penalty should be higher for that ****.

thank god there was no passanger or he/she woould have been killed or insured a lot. But still, if it would have been made in japan (cars out of tin foil :P ) then it would have broken in two.
