i just got a maroon volvo 240 sedan. Its my first car.. ( :
hmmm.. i signed up with this site but never got an email, so i cant post under my name..
Anywho, im looking to spruce my car up, but my funds are quite low, especially with college creeping up on me. Does anybody near New Jersey have a set of rims (with tires too if at all possible, but if not that's ok, too.) that i could buy off of them for not too much? Preferably virgos or something similar. I have about $200 to fix up my car and i want to replace the shattered door pockets and center console, fix my bent antenna, and possibly get a spoiler. That doesn't leave much for rims. Tell me how much you want for them, and i'll see if i can do it

Also, if you think there's something better i can do to it with $200 dollars, than feel free to make suggestions.

Center console completely broken or just cracked? If just cracked, use silicone to glue it back together.
Antenna ... get a universal $10 rubber ducky.
You'll be hard pressed to find Virgos in excellent condition for under $200 ... could prolly get away with an fair to average straight set for between $125-$150 and refinish yourself.

Welcome to you!
You have stumbled into, not only a great source for parts, but a wealth of knowledge that cannot be purchased anywhere!
You may want to consider practical maintenance before you get to the modification stage. Afterall, you about to embark on a journey into your future (too corny?). I might suggest taking the $200 (if your current tires are decent) and apply it towards things your car "needs" right now (maybe a tune-up, antenna, and/or a map pocket).
Here are just a few sites you should check out:
<a href="http://newjersey.craigslist.org/" target="_blank">Craigslist</a> (your
local site)<br>
<a href="http://www.fcpgroton.com/volvo.htm" target="_blank">FCP Groton</a>
(great pricing)<br>
<a href="http://www.ipdusa.com/" target="_blank">IPD</a> (especially their classifieds)<br>
<a href="http://www.swedishiron.com/" target="_blank">Swedishiron.com</a> (shameless
plug)<br>
You may want to pick up a basic set of metric wrenches, sockets, screw drivers and a Bentley Manual (aka <em>The Bible</em>).
However, the best tool on this site is the search function. It WILL save you time and many a newbie virtual beating to boot.
Enjoy your venture in to Turbobrick-land young lad. You are amongst brothers (and sisters too)!

their was a guy name Z349 or something like that who owned a maroon 240 that he was going to turbo charge in new jersey, i remember him selling a set of virgos with new tires on them for cheap, see if he still has them, worst come to worst you can buy a set of ugly virgos that im selling, Im selling them for 80(mismatched 2 blaco virgos 2 stock color) Or 100 for them to be redone, let me know shipping might be the killer for it, also they need tires
Heres his for sale add, its old and im not sure if hes still on the site.

i dont mind mind if there scratched up a bit.. but different colors is kinda... a bit much. i could spend about 125-150 on them, especially if they came with tires..

Good call.

Yep. Look for 15" 760 turbo wheels, nobody wants them, so they will be cheap. Leave the big covers off.
Next, spend what's left on some good shocks, and read up on cheap springs.
Enjoy.

ok, first, welcome, this is a great place for a volvo owner, my car went from

in under a year. what color is your interior? tan? easiest color to find parts for, i've replaced all my door parts for very little $. i suggest sanding and painting the trim that was once black(but now's grey) bigger alloys help, but there are good 14in tires out there. bigger sway bars help a lot, a good tune up too.
i love my car, and it's just your average slow 244. you can't fix it all at once, just replace what you can when you find parts.

i love those rims without caps, not sure on a 240 though
