View Full Version : SoCal Junkyard run - 2/4

PWRPUFF
01-25-2006, 05:43 PM
Half-price day @ Ecology on Saturday 2/4 ... I think we may need to do a 2-group thing to cover more yards:

Inland Empire - Fontana, Rialto, and possibly Adelanto if there's time or a need.

LA Metro - Santa Fe Springs and Wilmington.

I guess we'll just post up a "wish list" and each group carry a copy. I'll be in the IE, and prolly the OC guys would be working the LA Metro yards ... we'll just keep in contact that day, checking off stuff as one finds 'em.

Things I'm on the lookout for:
- (1) 16" Hydra
- (2) 14" Panasport

Sucks about the 100% increase in admission fee, especially when doing the rounds.

Are you talking east coast Wilmington?

This Wilmington is near Long Beach in Cali.

There's a Getrag or two out there with my name on it. Or at least there was. If anyone needs an early b20 dipped and magged OK(according to the note in it), I can get it if it's still in the trunk, 6-bolt crank, flex-plate(was auto). Also a set of HFS? SU's looking grungy with a little shaft play on an integrated manifold. I already snagged a few other various bit's of pushrod trunk treasure.

I think Wilmington and Sante Fe Springs will be where I'm headed. Unless the 909 yards have any new pre '76 arrivals.

Too late but Ontario Pick A Part was 50% off engines and heads today.
http://www.pick-a-part.us/ I've seen about 3 16v heads there.

in 2 1/2 weeks Feb 10-12 50% off at the Pick Your Part Locations
http://www.pickapart.com/

I sure will miss the SoCal yards when i move. :(

Rialto is bigger and better turnover, but not much better than Fontana, which is very slow.

If you call the Fontana yard they keep inventory for both. They are close enough that I'd hate to burn all that gas and not hit up both yards, time permitting.

I'm still down, still thinking Wilmington and Santa Fe Springs, but that may change.

SoCalSean, if you're out there, are you going?

I am gonna head to those two yards I just specified for sure. Fontana + Rialto Ecology and perhaps Ontario Pick a Part. If you all keep an eye for a 60 trim then I will keep an eye out for your laundry list as well. :)

OR we could have the "locker crew reunion" and hit all the yards together hehehe....

Ummm, "As always, its only $1.00 for admission." I'm bringing copies of my email cause i'm a cheapa$$, and want to try and save $$. I know they won't honor it though.

Here's what happened in reverse:

Curtis,

This is really funny. When I got the email I clicked reply to all. It apparently went back through their mailing list to all Ecology customers. They have not replied but a few Ecology customers have replied to me. Should be interesting for them on ½ price day for all of the customers who got the email that said it is still $1 admission.

Sure deal. What is your number?

If there's a 122s, 140, or '75 b20-240 out in the 909 someone give me a ring. I can be reached at 714.280.5953

I'll be cruising up and down the Ford rows for sure. Are you looking for a ready to roll, or a rebuilder?

I'm probably heading out by 7am.

curtis

I'd settle for a rebuildable one...

you can reach me at 773 five seven three 9457. sorry about the out of state area code. :-D I will def give you a call if i run across such cars.

Since I don't have any projects and the new 855R doesn't need much I don't know what I could need. I will be buying a beater in the next couple of months, but no idea what one needs till you get it. I do need a shifter cover thingy, but most of the 940s don't have the same as mine. Still need a door speaker grille. Only thing really wrong with the 944t is the powering steering rack favors the passenger 60/40, but i don't know if I should bother repalcing it since I am selling the car.

Negative, Mike. All Fontana had were 2.4 turbos.

And yeah, Gabe, that did suck. If need be, we'll figure something out. You're not the only t-bricker to have been carded, so.

A decent day for plucking otherwise ...

Gian ... a fresh rebuilt alternator. :-D

Mark ... LH 2.2 turbo stuff, 940 headlight, cupholder armrest (that I found and he was begging for). :-D :-D

Me ... headrest pads, turn signal for the 940, and a pair of spindles with Bilstein HD's. :-D :-D :-D

Someone else ... iPd sway bars for a 760 IRS. :grrr:

haha dang, thats a first. I get mixed reviews from people. For example, my actual ethnicity. Ive gotten, philppino, arab, portuguese, Italian, white guy with a tan(serious too), hawaiian, puerto rican...etc.

It's really. 30% black, with Irish, Jewish, and native american. so it doesnt bug me much anymore, the time we spent chilling and picking on random people made up for the time spent in the car. haha.

a funny story: When you guys where in the yard, pete and I were in the parking lot and some dude walks up to us and asks us if we have about 35mins. Im like no, were waiting on some friends. Long story short, we end up putting on a new hood on his Cougar XR7 and watching him drive off before we leave. He looked exactly like flava flav, and kept mumbling somethin about a bitch that could kiss his ass. It was quite an expirence.
