Volvo 360GLT #2 - This time it's a saloon

Well, after a bit of a discussion in another thread (my car is actually the same colour as that 340 1.4 saloon in Aus) I decided to post pics up of my second 360GLT. After a bit of an incident involving the diff of my old 360 running dry and locking the rears at 60mph - I needed a car quick, and this came up on ebay!

1987 360GLT Saloon, with the B200E engine with 81k miles and year old standard suspension - rides and handles much better than my old car.

Here it is after just picking it up back in October/November:

At a 300 Mania meet... oh man that stripe must go! :omg:

I decided I dont like decals... so that came off (well, one side did - still havent done the other! The wheel arch trims also need to be removed  )

After some decal removal:

Then fellow T'bricker Chesh found a 340 breaking with a rather nice leather interior, so I really couldnt refuse! Infact.. I still owe Chesh a pint or three!

Waiting to clear out the remains of my old 360, currently being broken up before I start piling the house up with more Volvo stuff - I'm going to be after some 15" 400 series alloys soonish. Here's a photoshop (oh and with some tints ;)):

It's a bit of an ongoing (and probably slow) project... not sure where it's heading yet but we'll see!

Yes, yes... I thought someone would spot that :-P

I have a pair off my old car which are much better that I'll get round to swapping at some point!

Now all we have to do is to get you to shove a small truck turbo on the side of it.... ;-)
Looking great (i love the saloon 300's)

The 340s were marketted against mk3/4 Escorts, but they were a fair bit larger. The 360 was marketted against the BMW e30, amongst other things. A 360 saloon is within a couple of mm of a e30 in terms of length, IIRC. It's got a redblock, so it screams B230 turbo to me :-D

cheers

Time for some updates... mainly removal of rust, a bit of paint and some rims....

I knew my sills were pretty rusty - so with its MOT pending I thought I better get it sorted! First of all I had a right game getting the sideskirt off the car because someone in the past (not original) had bonded it on as well as the original fixings. But in my opinion the bodykit itself is the actual reason for this rust to be so significant - they don't get this bad usually!

New Sill and rear arch:

So then a browse on eBay revealed some rather rare rims... so I thought it'd be rude not to.

Black undented bonnet ready for going to get painted... I kinda liked this look

Then it went to the bodyshop for some paint... I'm not completely happy with the profile of the rear arch so I'll be having words with the bodyshop later today...

I'm gonna admit that I've never really liked the 300 saloons, but you sir have changed my opinion in that regard! Great looking car - look forward to seeing more of it!
