I bought some of this Avery Reflective tape at my local electronics store, and i havent been able to find it anywhere else. Its on clearance, so it cost me 7 dollars to do the whole car.

They did. The tape was available as a dealer-installed option for 240's in the US. White tape on front bumper and red tape on rear bumper.

Theory has it that it was designed by a retirement village somewhere in South Florida.

They came up with the idea so they wouldn't have to put lights on their cars as they towed them down I-75 behing their Prevost Coaches. Their cars would just """glow""" an ambient light that could be seen from Detroit to Atlanta. Sorta like a "Northern Lights of the East" kinda thing.

In mid November we have the longest "daylight" of the year here in Florida due to the reflection from southbound snow-birds.

Oh, and their legs have that same exact """GLOW""" on the Golf Course. Thats why they pull their black socks up over their knees. It is so thier wives can see to putt through on 15.
