Well I've been searching and searching but can't really figure it out, I've been wondering is it possible to turbo a b230f? I've been hearing some stuff about reginas and don't understand what that is. I'd hate to make a thread like this but I've probably searched for the last 3 weeks trying to figure out if it's possible. Can I just basically pick up turbo parts from a volvo with a turbo and throw it on my car?

Thanks,
Mike

You can't search for "F+T". It doesn't work. That's the problem. There are lots of threads about +T'ing a B230F, but they're hard to search for. Search terms are "turboing" "turbo" "NA" etc... you can find the info, but it's not easy.

However, there is a sticky at the top of this forum that answers this question.

Ignore the stuff about Regina cars.

Basically, get the turbo and all the plumbing from a 740. Get matching fuel and ignition computers from the turbo car of the same year/LH version. Get some turbo injectors. Bolt it all up. There's a bunch more details, but a search will turn them up.

:-P Now I feel like an idiot. Well thanks for the help guys, once I find myself a place around here in California that has volvo parts I'll have to start the beginning of my next project.

Thanks,
Answered a few of my questions for me.

When we got my current 86 765Ti, a bad vaccuum line on the turbo caused the thing to go nuts, and blew a wrist pin out the block.
Soooo...
The guy we got the car from had an 89 B230F to go with the car. My buddy and I threw the turbo plumbing on the decent motor, kept the B230F head but swapped injectors from the FT, and got some braided oil supply hoses made up. Tapped the block for the oil return and reinstalled it.
Its now got about 8K miles on it, runs like a champ and pulls like a locomotive.
One of the most satisfying car-projects we have ever done!

Mike,

try here first. It contains writeups and more importantly pictures.

What year and model volvo do you have? This will determine how much extra wiring work you have to do.

I can't recommend it enough. Essentially, it's a bolt on with the exception of the oil feed/return lines and some of the wiring. Volvo really made it easy for us. Keep reading.

wait.... isnt this like the absolute most common engine to +t? am i wrong or what?.........

yes its been done probably close to 2 thousand times if not more. i have plans to do this (kinda im gunna take a turbo motor out of a 700/900 and use that, after getting it all cleaned up first)

oh stay with the redblock. you will one day know what this means.
