Hello to all. I just joined about an hour ago, and I am need of help with my car stereo. I have an 87 240 DL w/ a Sony Head Unit (GT-200). It doesn't do it all of the time, but after I have had the A/C on I get a humming noise in my rear speaker, even after I turn it off I have checked all of the wiring, and it looks OK from what I can gather. Any advise?

The humming noise ...... does it get louder when you rev the motor? You might want to recheck your ground wire.

This is really the only thing that is annoying. I got the car two weeks ago for only $100. So far I have redone the Inside ( i'll post pictures soon). I changed the Tan(which looks more like puke yellow after 19yrs) to Black and silver. Not quite done yet, but it is turning out pretty good so far.

I also replaced the 4" speaker and added 6 1/2's" to the front doors, and 6x9's to the back. On the front door should I wire the speakers in series? I have them in parallel now and if i turn the volume up past 22, when ever the bass hits the radio shuts off. Any suggestion with that?

I'm no expert, but could it be a fuse? Mine blew a few times randomly when i had a sony head unit, swothced to pioneer and its MUCH better IMO

Ive found that sony headunits are usually noisy, but it could be the blower motor causing interference.

Cool Thanks a bunch. I'm a new Volvo restoration enthusiast, so I'll look into it.
