View Full Version : My 745 Turbo needs a rebuilt engine so I went for a 16V B-230FT

As title says my engine is slammering & jammering at the very last verse, though its still running.

I´ve had the car for almost ten years driven it 140 000km with some 280-290 hp and it has 260 000km at total

Its probably the rod bearings that are worn out, maybe nothing more, but I finaly decided its time to switch it for a completly rebuilded engine.

I´m actually continuing at the same main configuration as before, exept for the 16V cylinderhead

For the purpose I bought a matching block a (B230FT -90 same year make as original).

It is a new bored block (+030mm ) Mahle pistons, crank grinded (-015) with ,high performance bearings,I earlier rebuilded a B234F cylinderhead & intakemanifold all polished and matced, (cambelts and tensioner from Volvo 850 (still missing parts but I have all the belt wheels needed) a brand new B-204FT exhaust manifold together with the new style MHI TD04HL-16T, 435cc@3,8 bar injectors 148 lit/hour @5bar fuelpump original LH2.4 jetronic + SMT6 piggy back converted to MAP/MAT sensor. my old inox 3" Ferita exhaust system with metallic cat and 3 1/4" downpipe

I dont plan to gain a lot more power just approx 300hp but with less boost and a better efficiency.

It will also look almost as a stock engine exept for the turbo pipes the open Airfilter and Big IC and MAP/MAT sensors (no AMM)

I have run out of monney in this project though, and been broke for quiet a while, but hopefully I will have it going soon, as it only remains some very small pieces to buy.

and your car looks sharp any more pictures?

Also i plan to buid a 16v. what dish is in the pistons. i want to know if the compression is the same as with any other volvo block and its all in the pistons. IE Na pistons=9.8-1, NA 16v pistons=10.1-1
