So I will admit it.... I screwed up my MS! I don't know how I did it but of course I managed to screw something up. So now I am looking for someone to fix it for me and so far I have seen two places
http://www.rs-autosport.com/#custom
and
http://www.msefi.com/viewtopic.php?t=4589
has anyone ever used either of these services? I really don't want to shell out 300+ for a completed one and without knowing what is wrong with mine can't really fix it myself. Would anyone here be willing to fix it for me? I know that that is taking the easy way out but this is my first forray into the wonderful world of circuit boards and I really don't want to cause irrepairable damage.
Any feedback would be appreciated
Thanks
Spencer

what'd you tear up?

I didn't tear up anything, I don't think. After I got to the part where I connect the MS to Megatune and the stim and it didn't work, I tried troubleshooting it using the FAQ but it seems that the troubleshooting part was not written specifically for MSI v3.0. So I really didn't get anywhere with it and so I decided that since I messed up along the way that I would start retracing my steps and started removing the parts on by one to find the fault. After a little while and breaking a few parts trying to get them out I gave up threw my hands in the air and started binge drinking. This is totally foreign to me. I don't know much of what I am doing other than following the steps. So really much troubleshooting is out of the question for me to do by myself. It is just really frustrating to not know what is going on.
Yes I am an idiot when it comes to this.
That is all

I bought my wiring harness kit from rs-autosport. Good price, great kit.
Whatever you pull off, make sure you clean up good. Lots of old solder will cause week joints when you put those pieces back on the board.
If you put the capacitors in and then powered the pontroller up, you may have to replace them. You need a multimeter to test the components to be sure.
Good luck!

How do you get the old solder out of the holes? I have used acetone to clean up the board but can't for the life of me get the old solder out of the holes.
BTW I just e-mailed Peter Florance and I was very surprised that within 30 min I received an e-mail back. That is customer service.

Use a "Solder sucker" or a solder wick.
The wick is better for pulling off the pieces on the components and the vacuum pump thingy works great on the board. I have found that ot's best to get as much of the solder off with the desoldering tool and then pull the pieces apart.
If you do it this way, by the time you get enough solder off to remove the piece without prying then the hole is usually solder free. Don't expect it to all be nice though. Even with the right tools, changing components is a job.
Make sure you observe polarity on the pieces that are directional. I bet this is where you made the mistake. Also testing the pieces that are suspect before resoldering will save you a lot of time.

I do not. You moved since the last time I came down. I will be down that way on May 5-6 and then again on May 20. The only problem is that I'm stupid and broke some of the parts taking them off the board trying to fix it. So I would need to order parts, and I think that DigiKey is out of a few that I need. Would you guys feel up to a MS install and a round (rounds and rounds and rounds and...) of drinks when I come down if you could fix it by then? I'll PM you for details. Thanks

I've got a few kits and I can take what I need from them (If I can't find them local) for the broken stuff.
If you've got a harness already I'd be glad to help but you may need to plan on an overnight stay.
I haven't moved. I'll PM you the address.

Yeah I have a harness. I'll mock everything up before I get there so it will be quick. Thanks again.
