is this another one of those twin charged cluster****s?

from the looks of things, i'd say it was turbocharged and supercharged... you can see the belt for the supercharger.

got some sort of electronic boost controller there, custom exhaust manifold, blowoff valve, electric fan.

ignition is where? can't really tell, but yeah, other side of the head is my guess. i'd really like to see the intake system.

Twin side exits ftw!

yup, super and turbo charged. the two pipes coming off the supercharger are intake tubes. you can barely see one of the filters on the edge of pic 3.

It looks like the plugs are on the exhaust side but they go directly below the exhaust. You can see it on the number one and four cylinders. Lots of stuff happening in that engine compartment.

Don't think so; looks like standard "Euro" '81-'85 GLT & 4cyl GLE to me.

its a b23 with sleeves and pistons from subaru 2.0 turbo, its the car with the viper gearbox. He was on this board for about a week about 2 years ago. My friends took these also some pictures that day.

I see evidence of a water injection system there too.
Nice, very nice ride.
Still, ignition system is a mystery to me.

Also, those grills came on just about every GLE from 83-85 here. But without the turbo badge.

So he's running a t56 instead of just a t5? must be packing a lot of hp for that.

I guess, I know back then he was using young b230 with oil squirters on the pistons, he said the cilinder walls went round cause of the high pressures. Water injection wasn't working and the ignition/injection is from his own shop.

I've met and spoken to the owner at the Autosport show thats held in january each year, he was at the '05 and '06 show but with out car. The owner is called Johan and works for an engine managment company called KMS, I spotted the engine bay pic on his laptop and we had quite a lengthy chat on both occasions.

I can confirm that he is definatley using subaru pistons and DIY H beam rods. But I can't remember if he sleeved the block to reduce displacement or used a shorter stroke crank.

When I spoke to him in January he was making 600hp (he's also an engine dyno operator) at the flywheel. Really nice guy, EMS was impressive aswell but lacking in some features at the moment.

that thing has 650 hp/670NM.. van Kronenburg Motorsport worked on the car, a very good engine tuner. Dunno, I believe he works there...

the specs i have from him:
he started with a stock rebuilt B23 turbo, o-ringed. At 400 hp and 560 NM the engine exploded. 7200 rpm snapped a rod, 3 rods were bent, and the liners were out of round...
his current engine:
B230 with oil squirters
liners from a Perkins diesel engine that give a 3.5mm smaller bore.
home built H-profile connection rods
racing spec pistons from a subaru (group A)
flowed head, bigger valves, stronger head bolts, yadda yadda
this engine gave 470 hp is on a engine dyno!

after some time (3000 miles) the engine was disassembled for inspection and everything was fine.
then he added a custom Garrett BB turbo that was good for 700 hp. After some time a SC of a Merceded was added. he was thinking of adding a second SC.......

awesome car!
