Some of you here have seen the car not in person but in pictures. But with my seperation from the 82 242 T I had to have a NEW project that RAN. So here it begins. So far I have managed to put Bilstiens all the way around and Lowered springs ( for now Coilovers will go on later).

A little thumbnail about the car I bought it from the original owner needed heater core and blower fan the V6 had its cams and waterpump replaced fuel pump and other items. Car has 109K miles on it I have been driving it to and from work 82 miles round trip It drives good handles OKAY V6 is heavy and burns as much gas as a big block Chevelle.

Here is a build sheet for the car . The interior will be ultrasuede dash custom fiberglass center console from front to back. Pushbutton start relocated heat a/c and switches from center console . The body will be two tone Sonic Blue on the bottom and Silver on top wheels not sure currently running Volans for now. Wheel are a toss up between the Ace executive in 20's or Petrol wheel Metrix.

no, actually it's quite light. the dry block with heads and pan and without accessories weighs in a 270 pounds. which is actually equal to or lighter than a redblock.

the gas part however...

I hate you. :grrr: I'm just starting out building up my 78 262C. But I do have a B230FT in mine . Nice pictures. What's all that green stuff all around the car?

Oh yeah: A B27/BW55 combo is lighter than the B230FT/AW71. I pulled the AC compressor before I pulled the engine or it would have been severly lop-sided when we pulled the engine out of the Bertone this past weekend.

You already have a head start with having the B230FT in. Green stuff That would be grass..

I will however have a 16V turbo in it as soon as the V6 starts to crap out..

It doesn't look like IPD will be involved on this they are not positive. The 16V Turbo is not in the car as of yet .
I have been driving the car around about 300 miles per week so far and am suprised as to how many people look twice @ the car while driving it around. I will be spending some one on one time this weekend to get soem of the rust taken care of and I have located a BRAND new Factory windshield just in case I break this one removing it. I will also be trying to get the coilovers on this weekend also.

The engine in the car now runs well also . The V6 had its share of bad issues but all in all the hp is not bad stock. Want the engine out of mine when I am done with it. :-P

A little update also I just got my hand on a pedal cluster.
Items in hand now for the car

December 09/07. Finished up on a 02 GTI clutch job early and figured I would spend some quality time with the bertone.

http://www.pbase.com/turbo16psi/image/90127826.jpg

Since I will be going with another form of EMS I might as well remove all the engine harness from the car so when I paint under the hood there will be less to have to tape off.

Before

http://www.pbase.com/turbo16psi/image/90127837.jpg

After
One thing I like better about 7XX/9xx is the wiring harness seperates this harness does not seperate :-( so I will have to figure out a way to get this harness through that small hole.:wtf:. Although I will be changing the brake booster so I may remove the whole black panel on both sides.

http://www.pbase.com/turbo16psi/image/90127857.jpg

http://www.pbase.com/turbo16psi/image/90127872.jpg

Moving on to the interior besides a complete interior color change to black. My plan for the dash is some sort of black suede with a Nav LCD monitor in the center console and relocating all the controls in the center console IE a/c heat and other switches elsewhere. I want a console that will flow to the back of the car with body color painted fiberglass. Also want to install a new heater core while I am here doing this already installed a new fan motor previously. And removing the cruise control and associated items.

This is going to really take some time to finish this car aside from working on the M3 (http://www.pbase.com/turbo16psi/m3_supercharged_e36) and working part time at a Local car lot doing service work. I was able to get some work done on the dash I am using this dash as a test too see how easy or hard the ultrasuede is going to be.I will be filling in the low spots and changing the shape of the dash and filling in the cracks. I already have the Grey ultrasuede for the test dash and I am going to pick up a commercial sewing machine this weekend.

I don't know if the wiring in the engine bay is still an issue, but the stuff left over after pulling the engine isn't the engine harness. It should just be for the headlights, turns, horn, and washer motor, which makes it the chassis harness.

Yeah mostly of what is left is for horn washer etc but I want to hide :ninja:most of the wiring that is left!! .

The dash well I am using this one as a practice dash I might go with a fiberglass dash and not suede. We will see how it goes.. The first thing I said the car needed was the 86 fenders with ECodes and headlamp wipers. And the skirts are one of my favorite things so far on the car.

How easy is it to attach the 86 fenders and radiator core support? I assume you also need to swipe the hood for a proper fit or is there a special grill? I'm thinking of doing the same with mine.

Well I finally located a commercial Singer sewing machine to do my custom suede work on the Bertone. My Dad found it through a friend that had it in one of his warehouse properties that an old tenant left . She is a Singer 96-10 converted over to an electric machine it is about 65 years old or so.She needs a belt and some fine tuning and maybe even a bigger turbo if she works out . But it is meant to sew leather suede and maybe even my fingers to my shirt if I am not careful .. I am probably going to do some custom seat covers for some 700/900 cars as well when I get better at it..

No new pics yet. Some of the Bertone in Europe had the 86+ fenders on them. Side skirts are form Brickstylz. Yes I will be doing a custom front and rear bumper :).

Hello!
All european 262c from -81 had the fenders and bumpers like the 240 -86 us edition. What kind of hood & grill will you use? You can use flatnose hood, "long" nose or a -86 hood...more work on the last one. If you use the flatnose hood, and a european -81 to -85 GLE (all chrome) or a Turbo (all black) it will look the best.... Just ask.. I have the pictures.

Damn, looks like I still have a lot of bloody knuckles ahead of me to reach that point. Are you building a whole new stock harness or changing everything to something else? I plan to rebuild whatever parts of the harness will be kept like lights, ignition, and such. Check out eagleday.com, they have some of the plugs volvo used and also have their wires in all the color combinations volvo used.

I've put a b23e in my 262 as well, lol good thing was that it is also k-jet, so I took the engine and mounts out, and just put it in and all the plugs conected streight up, and it runs...... but not well, cos I just got it in a few days ago, just need to spend some time on it,

whats the differance between 262 and 240 panels? do I need them if I'm to put a flat hood on? cos I have oneI was planing to use with its coenciding grill

*edit, your like me, but with money :P

Body panels across the models are interchangable.
Fitting an early '75 to '82 bonnet (flathood) is as simple as finding a bonnet and a grille that'll work with it.
