So the track is out (right are we going to just watch?), that leaves Doug's BBQ and cruzin'

What time do you want us to show up? and what should we bring?

(lets make this a one post thread, edit your post instead of reposting... remember to check back for edits))

I can bring either; meat, buns, drinks/beer (with a cooler), chips dips, lets not forget ice... Edit I will bring beer (I hope you like IPA)

So basically I will stop at cosco b4 leaving town, what is the item that i should bring? What are you going to bring.

important: Is this going to be a 'dry' bbq? I know driving and booze are a bad combo... but in the correct timeframe.... Doug whats your policy?

Edit: Should we go and cheer Pat on to greatness at the strip? are u racing at the cmi thing? I believe the spectator cost is reasonable. Whatcha think? We still could show up and watch 10$ wet T-shirt contest O:-) and more rice than you can shake a stick at

What's really going to happen? :e-shrug:

I'll probably be out running 13 second 1/4 miles whilst you guys are stuffin you faces with Doug's burgers. :booty:

This might be the last weekend I have to try to run a 13 in this car (pending sale). It would mean a whole lot to me to do it, so that's what my goal is for this weekend. Given that I just picked up my BFG Drag Radials, chances are good it will happen.

I'll stop by Doug's house after I'm done. 7pm ish I think.

ok i know... i said no reposts.... but noone saw this.

Should we go to the cmi show any how? Pat said he was going to run, and theres gona be a lot of things to look at.

So who wants to go to the car show before the bbq.

Note: if the wet-t contest is durring the bbq, and not before the whole thing is off.

Mom and Dad are weight watchers, so diet is welcomed (gotta make my car lighter too I guess  ).

Heres the addy one more time:

Doug, I am still bringing the Garlic Fries.

I'll be there by 4, but here is my plan for the morning. I already have my suspension done [thanks Ryan] and brakes bled [thanks Ryan]

1.Wake up at [5 am]
2.Install my PS pump, belt, connect everything good, filler up with fluid
3.Fix some tears on the right steering rack sleeve
4.Install Front swaybar
5.Pour some fuel stabilzer into the half-tank of gas that's been sitting there for 2 months almost
6.Hook my battery up
7.Re-install exhaust clamps
8.Test start the engine
9.Flush+Fill the coolant
10.Drive it to Watsonville, get it aligned and balanced
11.Drive to Volvobub's house to pick up a gauge cluster plus some 52 mm gauges to borrow
12.Get home, change the oil+filter
13.Install all the gauges
14.Wash car
15.Clean the interior
16.Fix Stereo
17.Pick up a CD from a friends house
18.Meet Noah and Ryan in SV [12:30 pm]
19.Barge up to Elk Grove
20.Eat some god damn burgers and call it a day or two

WISH ME LUCK EVERYBODY! See you at Burgerball!

Ya, its 6:30 I have about the same morning going :(

Brickster151
08-09-2003, 09:59 AM
At least you got till 4 Doug, and people will be able to view your car, even in non running form.

I got started at 4:30 instead of 5, did the PS pump, fixed the sleeve and got the swaybar on. The bolts to mount the PS pump in were stripped but I muscled them on. Than I hooked up the battery, cranked it, no dice.

Battery is dead. :grrr: Took it to a friends house [woke his whole family up, pissed em all off kinda] to hook it up to recharge it.

I'm gonna finish what I can on the car, but I am probably gonna have to end up hitching a ride up to Burgerball. The alignment was schedueled at 7:15, I have no chance of making that.

Too bummed to talk. :-(

Sounds like we are all having a fine and dandy morning.

I won't be going to the drags today, O/D part of the M-46 doesn't seem to like the new found traction. :???:

I'm calling the whole day off I think. I'm going to go back to sleep for a while. If I wake up in time, I'll run up there for some BBQing. Otherwise, I'll just talk to you guys later.

Pat, I know the feeling. Problem is, my trailers full of cabinets I wont be able to get the car to the house if its not under its own power.

Sorry I said that Doug, I was just way angry at the time, felt a little bitchy over my own situation. You probably have twice as much on your hands. I hope you get your car together in time to run it later this afternoon, I for one want to see it regardless of timeframe.

Out of desparation, I asked my friend if I could "borrow" the battery out of his car. I tried to get my car started, and voila, it did. Ran like ****, and smoke came out of the A/C vents[I deleted the system]. Noticed there was a vacuum leak, not too big though. Than I took the battery back to my friends house, than when I got home I noticed the air intake to the turbo was disconnected. DOH!

Pat, I am gonna talk to my friend who's buying the 244 to see if he has the $$$$$. If he does not, I will loan him the money and we might pick the car up today. I am not sure. I have to talk to him first. If not we'll pick it up tommarrow night. Either way I'll call you. If we don't pick it up today, you should drive it to Burgerball. Peter probably won't care.

I'd like to politely assure you that it is in fact we who have faster cars. Eric is running 20psi+ with NOS, Robin's beast is looking to be a rocketship, and Kenny and Sam's cars are low 14/ high 13 second slips waiting to happen. Oh, and Mark swears his car is running better now...at around 17psi with the B cam. That 15.1 in my sig is now in grave danger of a shattering due to 2psi extra, a much crazier cam, and yet another extra injector. What you got, biatch?

Tuff240
08-18-2003, 03:22 PM
Well to politely burst your bubble :slap: , Eric has yet to run the 1/4 (although his 1/8th mile times are great and he's not running 20+psi), Robin's got low oil pressure already and well, frankly, 14 second cars "threatening the 13's" don't scare me.

Bring it on. I'm game.

Guess we need to start a new thread somewhere?

-PD

isaac
08-18-2003, 08:45 PM
Pat, bursting my bubble would involve factual information. I saw Eric's car run a low 14 second pass in front of my face a little over a week ago. So smoke thyself.

Yes, east vs west will become a bloodbath and will destroy TB forever, but it does seem like a good idea.

volvoracer82
08-18-2003, 09:28 PM
Come on you guys, we all drive the same brand of car here, lets not get all pissy over the "our cars are faster than your cars" ego inflating fights. I mean we're all in the same boat here, Yeah I think it is cool to see how fast someone elses car is, and how it was done, but lets not hate each other for it.
I like what I see when a early 80's volvo can beat a new camero or a mustang, but not when we have to fight on the bench over who's volvo is faster, lets not go after our own kind, lets go after the 8 cyl. cars. Cause we all know our cars can atleast hang with them, and some can beat them.
But if a west vs. east battle is what you guys want then do it.
Thats just my 2 cents.

peace out -RYAN-

Tuff240
08-18-2003, 09:29 PM
Ummm, a low 14?
That's where I'm at with the frickin 18's!
Testing with the virgos and street tires says I pulled another 2 tenths off my ET. That puts me at 14 flat consistently, with the occasional 13.9. The drag TA's are MUCH faster. I'd say AT LEAST another 2 tenths, maybe 4-5 tenths.

Put your money where your mouth is byiatch!

isaac
08-18-2003, 09:37 PM
I don't see where putting my money where my mouth is comes into this. I'm well aware of what your car has done, and think it's probably the fastest car on the board (aside from swedes and JL). You said "we (the west) have the fastest carS". In my mind, the S meant several cars, not just yours. I can think of three fast cars over there, and one aint even close to running right. I can think of at least five over here. Eric will back me up in saying that his 14 second pass was one frought with mechanical and electrical issues. Thats why it's called test and tune. The tuning part comes afterward. Best runs are best runs. Eric has run a 14.008 at damn near 100mph, and that was a while back, so he's got what it takes. I'm sure that, given the chance, we could throw down pretty damn well. Seeing as your car is the only one that is even close to finished, I'd say you've got a distinct advantage over everybody else who could be brought into this.

Tuff240
08-18-2003, 09:43 PM
Oh c'mon Isaac. Don't start taking it personal. I was only pushing your buttons to get this thing rolling. And yes, I knew that Eric has already posted a better time than me of 14.008. We have several cars over here that will run 14's and 15's as well.

So lets drop all the trash talking and put together some sort of contest? It'll benefit the board to see what we do to make our cars go faster if nothing else.

Sorry if I offended you. I was just playin around.

Now you interested?

Best Regards,
Patrick

isaac
08-18-2003, 09:54 PM
If I'd gotten offended, you'd have seen a lot of sarcasm in there. I'm taking this as lightly as you are. I still think we smoke yo ass. I don't know about a head to head of course, since ya know, it'd involve a 3,000 mile convoy by one set of cars.

Some sort of "you go to your track, we'll got to ours" thing would be cool. Since you fast west coasters are almost entirely NorCal, I can see you setting something up pretty well. Over here it's a bit tougher, since the central point for us decently fast guys is Atlanta, and that entails a 5hr+ drive for many of us...except Kenny, Sam, and Mark...lucky bastards. 8 hours for me. So of course this would require some advance planning. I'm game though. 2 months from now I think was the drunkenly boasted tentative next SE meet date...maybe then?

nohbudi
08-18-2003, 09:54 PM
perhaps we can settle this sometime around christmas? when a few more of the WEST cars are completed? perhaps somewhere around arizona?

right now, i cant really say how fast my car will be, but im deffinetly shooting below 14, that doesnt mean i will get there, but im aiming for that. Who knows what dougs car will run? it could easily break records for north america, but we will all have to wait. i have faith in it, i know pats car still has more room, but who knows if he intends on just selling it and starting fresh or not...

Tuff240
08-18-2003, 10:09 PM
We can do it on an individual basis. Fastest car that runs 13's, fastest car that runs 14's and fastest car that runs 15+'s. If you don't have a car that runs 14's, your fastest car in 15's gets bumped down. Then your second fastest 15+ car gets the top 15 sec spot.

I'd say me and Eric should be banned to only the 13's or faster class since we are so close already. Wouldn't really be fair to post Eric's 14.008 in the 14 second bracket. I mean how much faster can you get w/o running a 13?.

Any ideas or suggestions?
Where should we start a thread? Performance?

Oh yeah, Robin said he's game as his oiling problem is fixed. DOH!

Anything goes! (since Eric's already running NOS and I'm already running Drag Radials) Just has to be a Volvo powered Volvo.

Proof will have to be a T-Bricks member seeing the run and a scanned time slip (a pic of the car at the strip with the same car # would work if no member is present) or a video of the run. Some drag strips post times after an event. This would qualify as well.
