the classic limited was made in a series of 1600 cars, the last 240's, and came with the B230FB or FX engine.

That's my car! w00t!
Not a huge number of differences really.
- wood trim on the dash
- body colored trim on grille shell, headlight trim, and mirrors
- numbered plaque on dash
- classic badge on rear
- multi-X wheels
- ?
Not sure about the equipment levels. Mine has leather, but I've seen several other classics with cloth. They only came in burgundy and green (not the same shades as normal). But generally, well equipped with seat heaters, mirror heaters, power mirrors, ABS, A/C. Supposedly 800 wagons, 800 sedans were made. The turbo is not factory on mine, just a very well done, stock appearing swap with a '93 940T motor and trans.

B230FB can only be found in 740/940s IIRC.

Mine is the dark green and I like it very much. One thing I was wondering is if it was 1600 Classic editions for the US market and 1600 Classic editions for the rest of the world market? Because it seems like we got 1600 here in the US but they were sold elsewhere. Mine is number 1205 of 1600 and it's the only manual wagon Classic Edition I've seen so far. I have seen one sedan but that's not a wagon now is it? :)
The multi X wheels came out a few years earlier with the 240 SE edition we got in the US in 1991. They are unusual in that the wheels are 6 inches wide. But I wanted 15 inch wheels on mine so I put a set of Virgos on the car.

Yeah, I swapped off the 14 inch multi-X's as well.

Does anyone know if there is a brochure about the classic limited edition?

I've got no literature on it at all. I didn't buy mine just because it was a classic, I don't think there is much added value to that distinction at all, if any. Maybe being actually #1600, but I think that one is already in the Volvo museum. Other than the appearance tweaks, I think they are just well equipped late model 240's.

I was very surprised mine was a Classic Wagon. I was looking for a late model wagon, cloth interior, no roof rack, and a five speed. That criteria was a must and to have the car nicely equipped along with it's economy makes it the best 245 I've had.

What was the difference between the b230f, b230fb, and b230fx?
Sorry for the dumb question. By the way JohnMc I love those wheels on your car.

The B230Fx has 20 horsepower more then the B230F.

Those are some dirt cheap Borbet knockoffs. Sport edition D3's:

FWD offset, with spacers.

There's a register for 240 Classics; the contact info is somewhere in the Volvo Club of America website. I'd bet the person who coordinates the list might have some idea as to the existence of any brochures. Post anything you find out; I'd love to hear.

Cam &/or head ... the FB & FX had, as has already been said, ~20hp more.
They must have not had quite as clean emissions though, as they don't seem to have been used in the USA.

There are 4 classics in my neighborhood in portland that I saw this last weekend.
One burgundy wagon that was at IPD with a tan int.
One greenish wagon is floating around some where with a black int and 5 speed...nice.
edit: There is a burgundy sedan stick that i left out, burgundy on gray cloth int that was parked a couple blocks away that I didn't see this last trip/edit
The kicker is... One blue? 244 classic. Is the burgundy/green thing totally etched in stone? The one I saw appeared pretty distinctly dark blue to me (I could be going color blind), which would be awesome, as the dark blue looks much nicer than the green or burgundy to me.

I've only seen the red and green Classics. Nice to know there is another five speed wagon. Mine has a tan interior. I like the dark green alot but in the past Volvo called a similar color Blue/Green Metallic. Maybe the green looked dark blue to you?
I tried to contact Duncan Lebay when I was looking around for 123GT information. The man never replied to emails or calls. I also tried to contact Brian Boyle in the VCOA when he was first starting to restore his wagon. He asked for people to contact him with suggestions and information which I did. But he never wrote back. Nevertheless, I'm still a member of VCOA because there are a lot of other nice people I've met with them. I decided not to join the 240 Classic Registry, though.

Interesting. I will have to see if I see it next time I happen to be in portland. It was evening I think when I saw it, so that might rule that out

Four in one neighborhood? Is it possible for you to try to contact these people and ask them if the have any additional information on te classic limited edition model? In Europe there are no more than 5 driving arround. You would help me a great deal!

I have seen a blue classic with my own 2 eyes. And, YES, I did have my glasses on! It was parked on 3rd street in Davis yesterday.
