Well that was a tiring few hours. Worked on it pretty much non-stop since I got out of school.. Put the engine in by myself and it was a first for me, so it was kind of a chore. Lots of pics at http://www.eric-o.com/images/volvo242/

Well if you wanna browse through the other directories, you will find that the interior is pretty well stripped ;). I'll be running MSnS-E for spark, hopefully will have it running within a week or 2. Need an alternator bracket and I think that's about it, I might be forgetting a few odds and ends though.

Are you gonna run that NA or did you make up a turbo manifold? Did the block mounted distributor work with that intake?

Yep I guess I shoulda said that. So it's a 2.5L 16v guys.
Going to run it NA for now, and I will be using LS1 coil packs and the 60-2 lh2.4 flywheel and the VR sensor and msns-e for ignition.

Thanks again John for letting me borrow the PP and disc! Ended up not needing to use the flywheel because the direct drive stuff for the marine engine was just a steel disc bolted onto a standard LH2.4 flywheel in place of the PP.
And thanks other John (The Aspirator) for the engine mount!
John V, what I want to do for something less temporary, is tac weld or rivet the 60-2 toner ring from an automatic lh2.4 flexplate onto a flat flywheel (maybe even lightened :badboy:). I still have not picked up those flywheels from the guy in Duvall, but I hope to this weekend. And I already asked Doug if I could bum his auto flexplate from his 850 off him for the toner ring.

Oh yeah, I mean to say "Looks toooo sweet!!!". Mine is still about 5' outside the engine bay!
Hot Tank, Plenum, and Coil Pacs will happen first...if not a mild punch, port and polish. Turbo? Oh yeah, I forgot that part too. With a little groove action to boot.

It is a complete Volvo Penta AQ171c, so it already had the timing belt tensioner installed. The belt and the tensioner were both replaced recently by the previous owner.

He had a video a long time ago where he started the engine while it was literally balancing on a spare tire, you can hear it pretty good. I'm sure he's still got the vid somewhere.
