Galaxies 7 or 7.5 wide?

suterman
05-19-2006, 02:15 PM
upto 255 apparantley, but i guess they would rub on full lock and maybe get quite a bit of sideways roll on corners, ive got 205s on there now, the rears are starting to get a little thin, im gonna put 225s on there next.

seeing those pics makes me want to go the local, hidden, nearly inaccessable volvo yard and grab the set off the 940 by the fence, of course then I wouldn't put the Borbet's off the 245 on the 740 when we get new shoes for that one.

They are basically just as rare as real volvo polaris. But your right, I'd NEVER let even hydras sit on a car at a jy/volvo yard, let alone galaxies.

Yep, but that's what it says in the equipment catalogue.

Wierd, cause Galaxy is .5" wider, and same tire is recommended for both of them. Might be that it was hard to find a 215/55 R16 back in the days??

No, that's because a 215 did not exist back in the day- you could have a 205 or 225 and that was it. I worked at my dad's tyre garage for many years. :)

Back to the tire dimensions again:

For the Polaris 7x17" wheels Volvo actually recommends 215/45ZR17 (!) Both in my 1993 and 1997 acessories catalogue, but thats the only wheel they recommend such a wide tire for!

Not even the 850's and theirs 7x17" Titan or other 7x17" wheels have 215 as recommended. Maximum 205 (!) I don't see why?

215 too wide for a 850??
