I have wanted to do this for a while and when the engine gets back together I'll be spending some time here:

The color in the instrument cluster comes from a thin piece of plastic (white bulbs behind it). Throw in a white face guage kit from Dave Barton and you're set.

get a set of LEDs, they will shine through the green film without any issue

cause 240's arent backlit, I just stuck a 4" neon up above behind the cluster window hidden from the drivers view, pulled out the old bulbs, neon glowed the gauges like a mofo

Genious...I've never thought of that. How did you wire it in, did you run it off the original wiring? I'll have to pick me up one of those cathode tubes...except in red.

For the wiring I just tapped into the fuse panel for instrument lights with one of these,

ran the wire up near the cluster, cut off the cig lighter on the neons and spliced positive to the source, and another wire to a ground in the car, radio wire etc, sure you know the deal which is right below ofcourse, easy stuff, I ran other wires with LED's from the same power source for the boost & clock, I have one of those autozone neon things with the sound sensor that has a power on/off (just incase I got pulled over by a cop at night and try some lame excuse that my cluster light was blown loll), theres enough wiring for the control unit to go underneath on the sides of the steering wheel etc

ive had this setup for about a year and nothing has blown

another idea I had is if someone had alot of time on their hands, get some super fine paint brushes, and that transparent glow in the dark paint, go on all the numbers, get a blacklight neon, and see how that goes, but im sure that would damage your eyes after a long time lol
