Bought the car in July of 2005 in Myrtle Beach while on vacation, even though i was looking for an 850r i couldnt let this thing sit and die anymore:)

Heres the car sitting and beeing used as a beach storage shed, lol
http://i6.tinypic.com/155oqd1.jpg

Ended up buying the car and somehow it was able to make the trip to Raleigh NC. Once the car was home we gave it a good cleaning and in the garage it went for almost a year to complete an all new suspension.

holy crap thats a clean car! probably not the fastest on the board, but definitly one of the better looking ones. when are you going to put on an e-fan? it gets rid of that stupid whooshing noise the mechanical fan makes (frees up a few horsepower too :-D)

soon, after everything i have already shown is put in, exterior and interior + system is next.

Power wise, it may not be to fast now but once everything else is done the B21FT will be gone and a B23FT well be totally built up for some just a lil power ;)

since my question from your for sale thread wasn't getting any hits, i'll ask again

is that your mbc near the radiator? if so, you SHOULD make those lines as short as possible, and only run them from the compressor housing to the wastegate. the wastegate diaphragm is not meant to see excessive vacuum. you will also get better boost response and cut down drastically on spiking.

cap off that line on the cold side pipe and run the mbc between the compressor and the wastegate!

Is that the Alpine 9856 head unit and MRP-m450 class D amp? That is the same setup I am putting in my car except I will be running the MRP-f250 four channel for my door speakers and the class D will be running my sub. I have the Infinity reference 4x6's in my front doors with some Eclipse 6.5's in the rear. Your car looks great, I love the attention to detail.

where does it say anywhere in this thread that he has turbo+?

besides...it's still too long, turbo + or not. that is the line his mbc is running off of, and therefore it is not optimal.

you sure you aren't talking about "boost plus" aka "Volvo Boost System"...which allowed 10psi for a short period of time above 3700rpm, but 7 or 8 before that??

turbo plus is the system used on later turbo cars that was like an APC, with knock sensor info worked in

that still doesnt account for the fact that the boost line to the wastegate, from the MBC is HORRIBLY long. christ, may as well had just run it into the cabin and used one of those gh3y Forge in-car MBCs

you wouldnt see boost spikes as long as that line stayed round, but yeah its a bit excessive.

yeah its a "turbo+ system" came first on the '83 flathoods - i have the brochure. not the same setup as the later 740 turbo++ or whatever

Wait, what happened to the "ti" part of this equation???

and why?

m3sonic
10-05-2009, 06:56 PM
ok long story short the car was nothing but a shell blown motor bad turbo and all. I ran into some real financial problems and couldn't fix it. I tried to sell it but no one would come up with cash or trades of something I could drive so I had to bite it and sit on it. Enter my H.O.A. for those of you who are to young or just don't understand these are people that most of us pay every month to walk around and tell us whats wrong with our homes our yards and....... our cars that are in violation of the parking laws. So then it became have the car run or have the car towed. So for a while every night i pushed the car from one spot to another.

One fine spring day they say today please move all cars form the lot as we will be repainting the lines. I do so and park on the street and being that i park my jeep there daily and weekly I think nothing of it so i pull it over there monday and leave it. Due to my work schedule i get up b4 sunrise and usually don't get home b4 sunset. So come Friday I say oh i better go get the volvo. Well turns out in fairfax co. (where I live) if a cop tickets your car and its on the road for more than like 13 hours or somn they can have it towed and so they did and so it was me who had to pay a total of $789.00 all said and done.

Now at this point like it or not I'm keeping the car. I saved what money I could to get a donor car so i could get some wires and a motor and all that just to do a drop in just so the car would run enough to keep the H.O.A. off my back. I do the swap with all the credit giong to Matt and the car runs yay. All the while my wife is driving a 79 244 I buy the carbs to put on the 244 because the k jet was acting up and hey it would have been cool, but guess what? She hates the car and wants in gone.

So now i have about $1000 dollars worth of intake and carbs sitting here and nothing to do with them and a car thats an electrical nightmare. so i eliminate all electronics add carbs and there you have it. don't worry I'm just playing around with the carbs thats not permanent ok. I already have a turbo motor but for now it's running it sounds really neat and until i have all wires lights and everything sorted out I'm just gonna leave it. So there ya go that's why.

Sorry for the huge reply and bad grammar but you get the point.

So good news I got the ignition switch wired up to the painless wiring harness and most of the other stuff seems to be falling in line.
