hey guys, can some one tell me how long the driveshaft is on th 940's. particularly a 92. they didn't come with more than one drive shaft did they. don't some of the later model (90+) 7 series share similar or same driveshaft. I need a test driveshaft to play with so i can keep my car on the road (when I get it back on the road) and experiment at the same time.

what in the world are you trying to do?

on a side note, afaik 940 driveshafts are the same as 740 shafts, and they're both 2 piece design

I'm tired of AW71. they're cool and all. :e-shrug: but com'on folks lets face it (automatic = lame/non sporty). So i've decided to go stronger and manual.

So the 740s and 940s have the same shaft. cool that helps. no difference in diameter though? Or is that only on the 240's?

I just want to go fast, I couldn't be more careless what tranny it has.

and yes, as long they have B230FT and AW71, they all share the same driveshaft.

wat tranny u planning to use?

Great, i can source out plenty of 740s to pillage. and the yards aren't to bad on prices (especially Volvo for some reason.) oh well.

Chigga, I have the W55 (i think, or its the 57) sitting on the floor at my job right now. I feel ya about just wanting to go fast but after awhile how could ya not want to run through the gears.

I think u need a custom driveshaft for a W55

from what i have read, it doesn't look like you necessarily need a custom shaft, more like a hybrid shaft of sorts. Hal's shaft is exactly that.
