I finally decided I'd post some info about my car. Bascially, the object for my car is a daily driver that I can beat on occasionally. I had a 99' Dodge Dakota R/T that got 13 mpg and costed a fortune on insurance. I needed something more sensible. The car gets me back and forth to school and work. I picked it up for a reasonable price and theres barely any rust areas. I hate rust. The car's ODO got stuck at 138k miles in 1996 so I'd rather not imagine how many miles the car really has. Anyway, I'll post some pics and describe my modifications later.

So the turbo is a 60/63 off of a thunderchicken. The BOV is a RFL off of ebay. B cam. T5 swap. Overall, it runs pretty good. Over time, I'd like to get some fresh suspension parts in and I've got a megasquirt setup sitting in my closet. Right now, I depend on the car to drive every day and I'm going back to classes in a month so it'll prob have to wait for winter break.

Buen conversion. Cuanto de boost? Que tipo de fuel system?

El carro tiene LH 2.4 turbo ICU & ECU. Its not too bad. I run the stock 240 turbo boost gauge at the line between yellow and orange. Yes I know I need a real boost gauge. Yes I know I need MS.

Its basically the same car you saw at Kevo's b-day with a 5 speed, a BOV, and a cleaning.

I've got ideas and such, but since the car is a DD I'll leave the playing to my dune buggy.

Great job on the +T, looks stock! Bet you get some looks with that BOV on a stock-looking DL, eh? :???:

Well, I guess I'll do a little update. I threw a 3" turbo-back exhaust on the car w/ a straight through dynomax muffler. Sounds pretty good, and what a difference as far as spool time goes.

I also got myself a 90+ mani and had it ported and machined to fit the 60/63.

I need to get some tires on these and get em on the car:

And thats about where I'm at. I cant really decide what I want to do next. I've got a b23f that I used to have in my buggy that I'm thinking about rebuilding, or I'm thinking of using this:

and making something really nasty. I dunno yet. I'm in the process of moving to Orlando, so once I get employed up there then I'll probably start doing something productive on the car again. I'm going to finish making my msns harness soon and I'm buying myself a laptop for Christmas. I'd like to have the car running on MS soon. We shall see...

Well the car has me pissed off right now. I thought it ate a timing belt tensioner but it turned out to be my alternator seizing. Lovely.

Interesting though, that in the process of fixing that... I've discovered a few boost leaks that I've now got fixed. The car spools much faster (used to be 3.2k now its at like 2.7k) and I'm actually getting spark blowout at 4.5k!! I am gonna bring the gap down to .28 and see what she does then. I've also got a nice hot coil lying around somewhere that I can throw in if need be. I was starting to consider getting a mitsubishi turbo or going with a .48 hot side to quicken my spool some. Hehe, NOT ANYMORE!

I started tearing down the 16v head this week and taking a look at what I've got. All of the lifters seem to be in pretty nice shape and the head doesnt show any cracks. Its funny though, that the b234 it came from melted the #3 piston. I've got a friend that builds up 4G63T motors quite often. I'm going to give the head to him and let him play with the ports some after he gets back from his winter break.

I pitched the b23f that I had laying around (10.3:1 comp motor) and I'm going to get a newer b230 at some point. I've had too many bad experiences with the b2x blocks to make me want to go in that direction. Plus, theres the whole crank timing gear + round tooth belt issue and I just dont feel like dealing with it. Its sitting in a field right now.

I'm also growing weary of my clutch holding up to all this. As soon as MS is going solidly, I'm getting a flat flywheel and having it lightened then using some clutchnet stuff. Should be neat.

8v gears will replace the 16v gears, havnt tested it yet, but there the same diameter and tooth count.

that sucks about the alternator. i wish i didnt throw my 100Amp alt away, i would have given it to you.

as for clutch's look up exzity? cant spell ill ask Steve. he bought a nice nice clutch for the m46/47

In my tear down i found 2 boost leaks, hahaha right at the iac.

good luck and be happy your car runs :grrr:

Eh, I wanna run a fat round tooth belt on a 16v head. Not worth taking chances. Being that my car has a T5 and anything that works in a mustang w/ an 8.5" clutch works w/ the flywheel I'll be using, I've got plenty of options. Yeah, I'm happy that my car runs. Its funny because I never seem to break anything super expensive or hard to fix. Its always little nitpicking ****. Oh well... I'm heading back to orlando in a few w/ the last load of crap from home (hopefully).

That's looking really sweet man.
I wish I could give you a rematch with all your new stuff in there.
Makes me sad to hear about tossing the 10.3:1 B23 though.

oh thats right you have a T5. lucky

your also lucky you can say Teal power. White power doesnt go over well. Also i have seen 2 240s with white virgos, they look good.

Haha it was kind of a joke around FIT. There was my car, a TT v6 mustang, and a nissan 240 turbo all in the lovely teal color.

Went to the JY today. Got myself one of those nifty little airdam shrouds that shoves more air into the condenser, a T3 oil feed line (to replace the pesky brake line), and a set of round tooth crank and int shaft gears ;-)

It runs 14's now. :-D

I am not going to be using my 16v head anymore. I figure, I'll just stick to the 8v setup w/ my new turbo setup and keep the thing more reliable. I scored this on ebay for 35$:

The plan is to attach it to the center section and 60 trim .60 a/r cold side thats already on the car. Should reduce spool time and still leave me with a respectable top end. This is going on the car as soon as I get a downpipe figured out for it. JohnV should be helping me in that department. After this, I'm going to be putting my virgo's on the car once and for all. At that point, I think I'll be about done w/ the car mechanically. I might put some new suspension components on it (IPD stuffs) but I'm going to keep it a nice daily driver and buy some other car to destroy. I might stick an IPD cam in, too. I don't think I'll megasquirt this car... its just too much to deal w/ for a DD.

Finally, I'm going to get myself a black interior, and swap it all in. I've also met a small business through work that does very good quality paint jobs for not too much $. I might repaint the car at some point and put on a newer 91+ windshield.

the cossie housing is for a stage 3 wheel right? if so you should by a compressor side t4 upgrade from benflynn

Nick

The stock wheel fits in it. And I don't think I'll need more than what the 60 trim can put out... for now at least (skinny rods).

Plans have changed for this car. I've pulled the 60/63 off, removed the 3" exhaust, T5, and soon the suspension will come out. I'm going to make this thing a quiet reliable daily driver and leave the performance stuff for the 242. I put in a 42/48 T3, stockish exhaust, M46 and a black interior in the car. I've got a decent stereo w/ an Ipod adapter. Its got cold A/C. Today I fixed a couple of the bugs that have been bothering me lately such as the vacuum system for the vent and the wiring for the OD. The solenoid has gone to ****, but at least the wiring is setup so that when I get the solenoid in, things will just work. I'll post some pictures later.
