I've got a b21a in a '77 242 dl. I know R-Sport made a turbo kit for these, but where can I find one? I'm guessing only in Europe.

-What are my options with the engine?

-What kind of engine could i swap in?

Also, I haven't seen many b21a's here in the states. What's the deal?

Not sure of the CR of a B21a, but you will probably need to use dished pistons from a b21ft. the b21 has forged rods and crank, and thick cylinder walls, so it's a very tough engine. If CR isn't a problem you could just take all the turbo parts from a donor engine and bolt it to the b21, but you'll have to fab up a way to connect the intake to the carb.

I'm pretty sure the last volvo model year to get carbs was 72; after that everything statebound had FI... and the 240 didn't come along until 75.

Pretty sure it's carb'd...I'll try to get pictures on here soon so you know what I'm talkin about. I too thought that mostly everything after 72 was FI, but I think this car might have been brought over...across the pond. It has dealer stickers above the the badges on the side and rear from somwhere over in Europe.

blahahhh..no dished pistons...get a turbo exhaust manifold, return pipe made somehow, oil feed, intercooler and make it work

i remember seeing a kit like that on ebay last month going for upwards of $4,000. if you plan on keeping the b21a, what are your plans for fuel delivery?

in regards to what engines can be swapped in: b230(e,et,f,ft), chevy 350, ford mustang 5.0... depends on how much you're willing to spend really.

don't waste your money on a kit. get a (ported)90+ or pre 90 is fine too, (ported)63/60, ebay bar and plate ic, 700 resistors/fuel rail/etc, and megasquirt it

if you try and hobble it together on a less than adaquate fuel/spark system you will blow the motor and need to spend more $/time on a different setup

If the car runs, the smart thing would to come down and borrow the B21 turbo motor I have here as a core motor and rebuild the hell out of that, do a good job so you have a foundation to go crazy on, then when its ready get some beer and ciggies and a couple of friends and all at one go, puill the old one and pop in the new one.

And don't sweat all the A, or F, or BFD and FT and all that nonsense, you are building a new motor for a new car, you're building YOUR MOTOR for YOUR CAR.
You can make different choices than the manufacturer could when they chose their spec.

But plan on other drive line mods as well, there's gerars I tell you, right there in the trannie and gears start with G and that rhymes with T and that stands for TROUBLE!
Yes, we've got trouble, trouble, trouble
Oh, yes, we got trouble here, we got big, big trouble
With a 'T'
With a capital 'T'
And that rhymes with 'P'
That rhymes with 'P'
And that stands for pool
That stands for pool

Ooops sorry wrong song!!

What the fawk do you think ''barrow'' means?:???: :???:
Wassamatta U?
You no speaka der Anglaisch?:-P

Går det bättre på svenska, då?:omg:

Låna.

It means you ask "Say John, can I barrow this motor so i can rebuild it, and when I'm all done and I shove it in then you get this whatever the fawk thing I have as a core return, so the next guy who needs a core to rebuild has something".

Sorta like what we did with Kevin Hawkinsons motor and Larry Wong's motor, and John Lane's Hornewt car motor, and Noah "Rallyvovo" was going to do with the 1990 B230 until he got all fixated with the idea of finding and paying stupid money for a 90 whatever block or killing his 940 motror "cause it has squirters". (Cause drilling and spotfacing and tapping four positions is too much work.)
