Hey guys...I was toying with the idea of tinting the taillights on my 89 740 wagon... just wanted to ask if anyone has done this before? pics wud be great, and methods would be even better. a freind told me there is a spray-on tint that i cud apply...but i wanted to ask the opinions on this board as well. thanks in advance for any help :-D

edit...ive seen another thread where a member did the spray on tint on his 740 sedan but it came out a bit dark for my taste...are there any other methods is what i also wanted to ask. k thanks.

Well this isnt really tinting but applying Veil to your car will tint all the lights and the liscence plate. Veil is a paint that is supposed to help prevent laser radar guns from picking you up. I used it on my cars and it looks cool, but here in NJ only x-band is used by police and the paint is 90 bucks a quart so you may want to look elsewhere...

I know some other people have used Testors Black Tint spray or VT Nightshades spray tint. Use the search feature to find what you should do, a bunch of different threads will come up.

it looks dark but the light still comes through pretty bright.

I've been toying with this idea for a while.... I remember some company offering a tinted plastic layer that gets custon cut and sticks to the lights, but I've forgotten where I saw them.

Fengler, are you selling your tails on ebay now?

If it's not, someone is selling the same tinted tails.

i got tired of them being so dark, so i got some rubbing alcohol and took off some paint. then i went out and got some LED bulbs, and they were bright. now i'm back to all red

BEFORE:

pic didnt work

AFTER:

pic no worky

I USED THE VHT NIGHTSHADES ON MY RED BRAKE LIGHTS AND IT WORKS PRETTY GOOD. I ALSO USED TESTORS CANDY APPLE RED TO PAINT OVER MY AMBER TURNS. I THINK IT CAME OUT GOOD. IT'S NOW A LITTLE DARKER THAN IN THE PIC AND IT LOOKS ALOT BETTER. THE LIGHT SHINES THROUGH JUST FINE.

The plastic paint (for like plastic lawn furniture and stuff) that is sold at OSH or other hardware stores made my front signals nice and dark, but light still got through plenty well, I dont run them on my car because I didnt like the look much, but thats just my preference ;)
